Rivers of Nihil Teases New Album and Shares Art for “The Work” 


Enigmatic Progressive Death Metal Band Rivers of Nihil have teased a new album, music, and music video. The one-minute teaser was shared to YouTube with album artwork popping up in other places such as social media and the Bandsintown app. The ominous shot of the band says “The Work” begins July 27th, apparently when a song/video will drop, like their new album, from Metal Blade Records. It remains to be confirmed if the “The Work” is the single title or album title. The teaser has some pretty dramatic intro music too. They shared a previous teaser a week ago which you can see below. The band will also participate in the Up From The Sewer Tour, headed up by The Black Dahlia Murder, After The Burial, Carnifex, and Undeath

The Black Dahlia Murder Books a Headline Tour with After The Burial, Carnifex, Rivers of Nihil, and Undeath


Legendary Melo-death band The Black Dahlia Murder will embark on a headline tour of North America as the first foray back to full-time touring. The tour features After The Burial, Carnifex, Rivers of Nihil, and Undeath as openers. Dubbed “Up From The Sewer Tour 2021”, this will be the first trek in support of The Black Dahlia Murder’s critically acclaimed album, Verminous (review here), released in April 2020 via Metal Blade Records. Ho holy shit, did you catch The Black Dahlia Murder’s holiday livestream? I hope you did because it was a Christmas miracle.  Aptly titled “Yule `Em All,” this was definitely not your typical livestream (or Black Dahlia show, for that matter.) Jam-packed with the bands’ trademark sense of humor and brutal riffage, the night was fueled by holiday joy and metal mayhem.

STAFF PICKS: Torbjorn Solgard’s Top Albums of 2020



2020..What can I say? A  year where Poppy releases a metal album and Glenn Danzig does an album of Elvis covers (for real go look it up)! Seriously though I think it was a bad year for everyone. Luckily there was some killer music to help us all get through. So, I’ve compiled a list of what helped me. This list was a lot harder to make than I first thought it was going to be so much good stuff out there. Deftones, Faith No More, System of A Down, Judas Priest, Puscifer, Korn and More to Headline Hellfest 2021 


Hellfest Open Air recently completed its first-ever online streaming festival. Hopefully, the real thing is coming back next summer! The venerable metal and rock fest announced their lineup for 2021, with most of the bands slated to have played in 2020, but canceled due to COVID-19. Deftones, Faith No More, System of A Down, Judas Priest, Puscifer, Korn, Volbeat, Opeth, Dropkick Murphys, Northlane, Deep Purple, Wardruna, Rival Sons, Devin Townsend, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more will perform. Ten more bands will be added soon. Thirteen bands slated to play in 2020, but cannot attend 2021 include Incubus, Mastodon, Infectious Groove, Thy Art Is Murder, Alter Bridge, Baby Metal, Joyous Wolf, Unleashed, Meshuggah, The Black Dahlia Murder, Periphery, Body Count and August Burns Red.Continue reading
