In the absence of live shows as we know them, Dutch symphonic metal act Within Temptation have taken the idea of playing a simple online gig and moved it up a level, giving fans the full virtual reality sci-fi treatment. Instead of performing on a stage in an empty room, the band have produced something much more visually stimulating, creating not only a sequence of lavish futuristic sets but a fully functional wraparound storyline detailed ahead of each separate section by the disembodied head of a digitally constructed android.
Platinum-selling band Within Temptation has announced a unique VR livestream event, “The Aftermath: A Show In A Virtual Reality.” It takes place July 8th in Europe and July 9th in North anbd South America, and tickets can be purchased at the link below. The band has also announced a new single “Shed My Skin,” out on June 25 — two weeks before the show. For this song, the band has teamed up with German metalcore band Annisokay.
Rock supergroup Saint Asonia, featuring former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier and Staind guitarist/founding member Mike Mushok, have released the deluxe edition of 2019’s Flawed Design album. The album features guest appearances from Sully Erna of Godsmack, and Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation. Ghost Cult spent some time in New York City recently with Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation before their sold-out show at The Playstation Theater in Times Square, The band recently released their smash album Resist (Spinefarm) and came back to tour the US for the first time in five years.
