Legendary NWOBHM band Saxon is still going strong in 2018 with their new album Thunderbolt  (Silver Lining) and their recent tours with Judas Priest. In a new interview with Moshpit Passion, singer Biff Byford discussed the possibility of celebratory vibe for 2019 concerts and festivals paying tribute to the bands fortieth year in metal. Saxon To Reissue Their First Live Album “The Eagle Has Landed”


New Wave of British Heavy Metal greats Saxon are releasing a deluxe edition of their classic first live album The Eagle Has Landed, will be reissued on October 19th. The album features bonus tracks recorded live at Hammersmith Odeon in 1981-1982. Saxon are on tour supporting their 2018 release Thunderbolt, and just released a special tour edition of that album too. New dates kick off next week in Brussels, BE. Saxon Announce Special Tour Edition Of “Thunderbolt” This Fall


Saxon has been killing it all year behind their critically acclaimed new album Thunderbolt. Now they will release a deluxe tour edition of the album, this September 7th via their label Militia Guard Music. The Special Tour Edition features live recordings of ‘Thunderbolt’ and ‘Nosferatu (The Vampire’s Waltz)’ recorded in Frankfurt and Los Angeles on the 2018 Thunderbolt World Tour. The CD format also contains a 10” x 10” poster with photos of the band while on Tour. Pre-orders are live as of today.Continue reading


Judas Priest – Saxon – Black Star Riders: Live At Worcester Palladium


On Friday, March 23rd, Judas Priest rolled into the newly renovated Worcester Palladium for a sold-out date on their Firepower Tour with legends Saxon and Black Star Riders. What a breath of fresh air this show was. I honestly can’t remember the last concert I attended that did not have at least one band on the bill with some sort of controversy surrounding them or was not inclined to espouse their political beliefs on stage (whether for the better or worse). This tour is just a class act from start to finish. No bullshit, no drama, no politics, just good old Rock n’ Roll, and Metal.Continue reading

While some bands can take four or five years, or in some cases even longer, to release new music, Saxon have never taken more than three, and the quality rarely dips.
