What do you get when it’s all leather and zero lace? KK’s Priest! You know what you are about to experience and for me… It was my first time seeing KK Downing (KK) in action and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. As for the beast of a vocalist, Tim “Ripper” Owens (Ripper)… He is part of the Judas Priest history, despite the fact you can’t find those albums as easily or online… Ripper was chosen as the rightful heir to the legacy that Rob Halford, established decades ago, back in the nineties, because he could do what most mortal men cannot… He not only sang those classic tracks he created his own chapter and when you close your eyes… Ripper Owens… Owns your ears.Continue reading

Queen’s News Of The World Album Released Forty Years Ago
At the peak of their power in the late 1970s, Queen released News Of The Day (EMI/Elektra) to only solid reviews at the time. The band was riding high on a string of mid-70s chart-topping albums, with already some of the biggest hits of all time, that established them as one of the biggest bands in the world. Becoming of those bands changed Queen, a group of highly accomplished master musicians and live performers. Their concerts were already the stuff of legend since they were the first band in the world to book sold-out gigs at sports stadiums worldwide when arenas could not contain the scope of their shows. So as a response, the band began writing with the crowd in mind even more, creating entire passages meant for audience participation, not just the choruses. Critics at the time dissed them for this, but in hindsight, they presaged Metallica, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Guns ‘N Roses, Judas Priest, Queens Of The Stone Age, Muse and just about every other arena rock band since in this regard. On The Road…. with Rozamov
That Boston’s Rozamov is an excellent band won’t surprise too many that have seen them live, or checked out their available tuneage. Their 2013 short player of Gods And Flesh was a flesh peeler and an ear opener to me for sure. Plus, it had some seriously sick artwork if I recollect. Their split with Deathkings, released a year ago showed a further exposition to the style they started, unafraid to take chances musically, yet playing to their strengths as a unit. If groups like early Mastodon, High On Fire, YOB, Black Tusk, Pallbearer, and Vallenfyre are your thing, this band will be right in your wheelhouse. In advance of an interview we are brewing with the band; Matt Lambert photographed them in their natural habitat for Ghost Cult. You can see them here, destroying it live at this hometown gig at the Middle East Nite Club, while opening for Intronaut and Scale The Summit. The band hits the road in June for a short run of tour dates with Moon Tooth. Their new album will follow later this year.
