Life Of Agony hit the music scene hard with their debut album River Runs Red on October 12th, 1993 via Roadrunner Records. They left a lasting impact that continues to reverberate today in the music world. Although they came from humble beggings in Brooklyn in the New York Hardcore scene, their release was a sensation that captured fans’ ears from all over the world. As one of the breakout bands from the crop of hugely influential Roadrunner releases that year that included Type O Negative, Sepultura, Fear Factory among others, they grew into an internationally known and loved band. Gorilla Biscuits To Celebrate 30th Anniversary 7” With Reissue and Action Figure
All-time great NYHC band Gorilla Biscuits have teamed up with Super7 toy company and Revelation Records to reissue their classic original 7” record this Friday. To celebrate they will host an event at Coney Island Baby, in New York, this Friday, October 5th at 8:00pm-10: 00 pm located at 169 Avenue A, Lower East Side, New York City. Released in 1988 as Revelation Records fourth release, This first press tribute box set features a blue clothbound display box with a white foil stamp on the cover and brand new first press tribute blue card Gorilla Biscuits ReAction Figure with GB logo display base. The GB display base is also a 7” large hole adapter which conveniently fits the new 30th anniversary 7”. Revelation put out the original GB recordings and Super7, in town this week for New York Comic Con is unveiling their new line of re-action figures of beloved toys, bands, and pop culture phenomenon. Quicksand – Glassjaw – Primitive Weapons: Live At Brooklyn Steel
If you grew up in the 198os and you liked heavy music, New York Hardcore has a profound effect on you. If you were born too late, say the little bros and sisters of hardcore kids, you too might have been influenced by this massive scene. Some of you formed bands yourself, that matched the style and fire of the earlier wave but did their own thing, like Madball. Others included their own influences, emo, thrash, rock, reggae and other subgenres to shape and mold what musical sound was coming next. What came next was post-hardcore. Not exclusive to NYC or even the east coast, it soon became a worldwide phenomenon, and like it’s older brother, it also came in waves. All these years later, two of the most impressive and talented bands ever Quicksand (first wave, helped create the genre) and Glassjaw (second wave, equally defining and crucial) not only have recent new albums out, they are both vital today as they were back then.
