Turns out those dudes in Whitechapel are going to be alright. About a decade removed from the great Deathcore rush, this Knoxville unit is still putting up strong numbers and successfully exploring beyond the confines of the genre. And if you enjoyed the genre line blurring on 2019s The Valley, well it turns out Kin (Metal Blade) is willing to venture further out into the woods.

ALBUM REVIEW: Stone Temple Pilots – Perdida
Bands rarely take risks anymore. Many times bands stick to an established formula and fear of change or reprisal from fans keeps the sounds regurgitating and prevents real growth. Then you have a band like Stone Temple Pilots, themselves riding the crest of their major 2019 comeback album, self-titled album, and a triumphant world tour that preceded and followed the release. You couldn’t blame them with all the past tumult if they played it safe and made another mostly rocking album to appease the fans. EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Turkey Vulture – “In the Pines – Acoustic Demo”
Connecticut Americana-Punks Turkey Vulture are back with a complete left turn from their excellent previous release, their EP, Boxer. Today Ghost Cult teams up with the band as we share their amazing rendition of ‘In The Pines’ (aka ‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night’ or ‘My Girl’). Its author is officially unknown, but it lives in the American songbook and was popularized by Bill Monroe and Led Belly. The song had new life breathed into by Nirvana, as they included it in their MTV Unplugged concert and album. Turkey Vulture does its own special spin on the track with sparse instrumentation, earthy percussion, heart-rending cello, and a lot of character. Check it out! Continue reading
