CLASSIC ALBUMS REVISITED: Quicksand Released “Manic Compression” 25 Years Ago


Post-Hardcore is a sub-genre that gets tossed around today as commonplace, but in the early 1990s, it was a new little brother that the older sibling was not ready to cede attention to. As Hardcore Punk mutated into other offshoots, post-Hardcore started to gain ground. In New York City alone, the epicenter for many new waves of hardcore music, a lot of bands crossed over (see what we did there) and bands started to absorb elements of both with Prong, White Zombie, and Biohazard were all leaning more on metal vibes, Quicksand formed by members of ex-hardcore legend status bands we’re pushing towards a new sound. Heavy, but not in a tough guy way, vulnerable, but smart. By the time the members of essential musical outfits Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Beyond, Bold, Burn, and Collapse formed an anti-supergroup, released demos and the amazing Slip (Polydor) album, and toured tirelessly, fans in the scene could feel they were building to something huge. Hardcore and Metal legend Billy Graziadei (Powerflo, Biohazard) has shared a new music video from his BillyBio project for ‘No Apologies No Regrets’! The video for the track was directed by Billy, with editing by Gabby Vesson and Juan Melendez served as director of photography. ‘No Apologies No Regrets’ comes from BillyBio’s 2018 debut Feed The Fire, out now on AFM Records. Super7 Releases New Gorilla Biscuits ReAction Figure and New 7 Inch Repress


Super7 has collaborated with Revelation Records for a new version of the Gorilla Biscuits ReAction Figure and a new pressing of the 7-inch of the GB self-titled release from 1988. Originally shared last year for the 30th anniversary of the band celebrated with a special release show at Coney Island Baby during New York Comic Con 2018, the new version is the red GB mascot figure, and third repressing vinyl. The GB display base is also a 7” large hole adapter which fits the new 30th anniversary 7”. (Then you can place the adapter on the record, the figure on the adapter and play the record with the figure spinning on it!) Lastly, the box set also comes with a 16-page booklet that chronicles the history of recording and releasing this landmark 7” record including many never before heard stories, fact and information about the record. Gorilla Biscuits To Celebrate 30th Anniversary 7” With Reissue and Action Figure


 

All-time great NYHC band Gorilla Biscuits have teamed up with Super7 toy company and Revelation Records to reissue their classic original 7” record this Friday. To celebrate they will host an event at Coney Island Baby, in New York, this Friday, October 5th at 8:00pm-10: 00 pm located at 169 Avenue A, Lower East Side, New York City. Released in 1988 as Revelation Records fourth release, This first press tribute box set features a blue clothbound display box with a white foil stamp on the cover and brand new first press tribute blue card Gorilla Biscuits ReAction Figure with GB logo display base. The GB display base is also a 7” large hole adapter which conveniently fits the new 30th anniversary 7”. Revelation put out the original GB recordings and Super7, in town this week for New York Comic Con is unveiling their new line of re-action figures of beloved toys, bands, and pop culture phenomenon.
