Ether Signs To Century Media, Tour Dates And New Album In The Works
Florida metal band Ether has signed a new deal with Century Media Records. The band features members of Remembering Never and combines the sounds of post-metal and extreme metal subgenres. The band is currently working on a new album for release in 2019, and recommended to Century Media by A&R and music industry legend, Michael Alago, whose credits include signing Metallica and White Zombie and whose career was recently profiled in the documentary film, Who The Fuck Is That Guy? by director Drew Stone. Michael commented “Ether are both brutal and majestic in the presentation of their music,” says Alago. “There is also a beauty that is totally arresting in all its heaviness.”Continue reading
Swedish Courts Dismiss Case Against Tobias Forge By Former Ghost Members
In a story we have been tracking for some time at Ghost Cult, Swedish Courts have summarily dismissed the case against Ghost frontman and copyright owner Tobias Forge, brought by his former bandmates. According to a report by Andreas Schander of Linkoping News, the hometown newspaper of the band, the trial in Linköping district court lasted for six days and at 11 o’clock CST on Wednesday, the case was dismissed. Not only that but the plaintiffs (Simon Söderberg (guitars, “Alpha,” member since 2010 -2016) Mauro Rubino (keyboards, “Air,” member since 2011-2016), Henrik Palm (guitar, “Ether,” member since 2015 – 2016) and Martin Hjertstedt (drums, “Earth,” member since 2014 – 2016) owe Forge over 1.3 million Swedish Kronors, or approximately $145,000 USD. The case alleged that Forge had wrongly distributed money and withheld royalties, backing down from promises they claimed he made to the members at the time. Forge argued that Ghost was always his band, and the rest were hired, musicians. The original article in Swedish including the 180-page court decision documents can be seen in the story below. Ether – There is Nothing Left for Me Here
I’ve given There is Nothing Left for Me Here (Dead Truth) a few spins now and I’m shocked that Ether has remained a secret in the underground metal community. It’s not like they’re novices to the game, these are former members of acts like Remembering Never and Into the Moat we’re talking about here. Judging by their welding of Sludge and Hardcore, it may not take long now for the secret to get out.Continue reading
