CONCERT REVIEW: Wardruna – Jo Quail: Live at Manchester Albert Hall
It’s a sight to behold the lengthy queue of hairy Viking looking metalheads snaking around Manchester Albert Hall, assuming of course the snake in question was quite hairy and dressed like a Viking, which I feel is probably stretching the metaphor a bit too far. You’d assume that said hairy, mead quaffing snake (alright, I’ll stop now) was going to be finding its way inside to some sort of very loud and very metal sort of gig. You’d be wrong, as indeed despite the roots of the headliners in Black Metal group Gorgoroth the queue is in fact for the mesmerizing solo cellist Jo Quail, and Nordic Folk legends Wardruna.

Wardruna has released a cinematic music video for their new single Kvitravn” which is the title of their forthcoming album, due out on January 22nd, 2021 via By Norse Records. “Kvitravn” (meaning White Raven) show the video from a birds-eye view and features Wardruna founder Einar Selvik and vocalist Lindy Fay-Hella. Wardruna To Release New Song, “Lyfjaberg” Next Week
Wardruna, the legendary Nordic Folk Music act led by Einar Selvik, has announced they will share a new song next week, ‘Lyfjaberg’, on June 5th. The band released a statement about it to social media. “When circumstances forced us to postpone the release of our upcoming album “Kvitravn”, it was clear to us that we still wanted to release new music. Music and art can potentially carry great meaning in times of uncertainty. We decided that now was not the time to stay silent and headed straight back into creative mode and the studio to write and record the song Lyfjaberg.”
Einar Selvik of Wardruna is Working on the Soundtrack to “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla”
Exciting news from the gaming world as world-renowned musician and composer Einar Selvik of Wardruna is working on the score to the upcoming game Assasin’s Creed Valhalla, due out in time for the holidays, 2020. Selvik announced he would co-compose the score, alongside the game’s composers Sarah Schachner and Jesper Kyd. Metal fans who gravitate to all things Norse will love the new game’s direction. In addition to Wardruna and collaborative projects with Enslaved’s Ivar Bjornson, original music by Selvik and Wardruna have both been used on History’s Channel’s hit series Vikings, which Einar is a composer on. He has also appeared on the show in the past. New music and tours are coming from Wardruna as well. We have interviewed Einar several times on the subject of his composing work. Continue reading
Wardruna Postpones New Album “Kvitravn” Album Release to 2021, North American Tour Still On
Wardruna, the legendary Nordic Folk Music act led by Einar Selvik, has been forced to postpone the release of their new album due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic forcing the closure of warehouses and production facilities. Kvitravn which translates to ‘White Raven’–from its originally scheduled release date of June 5, 2020 until January 22, 2021 via By Norse Music In the U.S. and Sony Music / Columbia Records (worldwide excl. U.S.). As of now the band will proceed to keep plans for their anticipated return to North America this Fall on a solo run from September 24 to October 20, dates of which are listed below.
