Limp Bizkit – Significant Other Revisited

I’m twelve years old and watching MTV at Jennifer Mones’ house. I’m trying my best attempt at humor and charm, but a boy can only do so much while sporting a bootleg Chicago Bulls jersey. I’m crushing hard on her and failing but at the eleventh hour, this fucking music starts blaring in the background. I turn around to notice some outfit called Limp Bizkit has a video playing for a track titled ‘Nookie.’ I haven’t heard anything this remotely heavy ever. Suddenly my raging hormones and Jennifer had taken a back seat to ‘Nookie’ and whatever else was to be found on this Significant Other (Interscope).Continue reading

Silver Snakes – Death and The Moon

It takes a lot of courage to run screaming away from your comfort zone and do something different. If done with care, you can change the course of the art you make for the better, discovering new things about yourself. This seems to be the case with the new album from Silver SnakesDeath and The Moon (Evil Ink Records). Silver Snakes broke on the scene as a progressive modern metal band with a lot of accolades. They hinted at a dynamic shift in style with the Scathe EP of industrial metal covers but now have fully gone over to the dark side, in the best way. Holy Fawn – Death Spells

I think Holy Fawn summed themselves up brilliantly with their band summary: “four creatures making loud, heavy, pretty noises”. Combining ambience, walls of distortion and ethereal vocals, Death Spells (Holy Roar) is the embodiment of these contrasting musical textures.Continue reading

Hear Mötley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart” In The Style of Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Reel Big Fish, Devin Townsend and more

Musical genius Anthony Vincent is at it again with another video of “covers in the style of” form his YouTube channel 10 Second Songs, this time focusing on Mötley Crüe. With their film The Dirt streaming on Netflix starting this weekend and Vincent making a cameo in the film (blink and you’ll miss it), he has tackled ‘Kickstart My Heart’ in the style of 17 artists including himself. It’s pretty hilarious to hear his take on artists such as Led Zeppelin/Greta Van Fleet, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Reel Big Fish, Devin Townsend, Ricky Martin, Dean Martin, Baby Shark, The Saved By The Bell theme song and more!Continue reading
