Ghost Cult has been supporting the Solidarity Voices charity comp from Fine Shammy Records, since it dropped this summer! In addition to sharing the new single from the comp – “Listen” by Sect. 8, we caught up with the co-owners of the label – Abe and J3 (also the vocalist and songwriter of Sect. 8), as well as Teddy from Picnic Casket to discuss the cause, the labor movement, and of course, the music. Ghost Cult had the honor of chatting with Mark Tremonti of Tremonti, Alter Bridge, and Creed fame on the eve of the release of his new solo album – Tremonti Sings Sinatra! The album is not only a smashing covers album paying tribute to “The Chairman of The Board” – Frank Sinatra, but also with a mission to raise money and awareness of The National Downs Syndrome Society. Mark discussed his inspiration for this project – his daughter, his lifelong obsession with Frank Sinatra, his love of Jazz, how he chose the songs, working with Sinatra’s former bandmates and producers, a potential sequel to the album, and updates on both Alter Bridge and Creed!
Mark Tremonti has cemented himself as one of the staple musicians within the hard-rock scene over the past 3 decades with Creed, Alter Bridge & his own project Tremonti. With this repertoire of music projects, this album is still probably the last thing anyone expected from the man. Covering the ageless classics from Frank Sinatra himself is Tremonti Sings Sinatra (NDSS).
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has launched The Taylor Foundation, a non-profit initiative that aims to help local organizations with their continued efforts to provide assistance and essential resources for members of the military and first responders living with post-traumatic stress disorder. Corey has partnered with Fandiem (known for their work with countless artists such as Metallica) and BandsInTown to give fans a chance to win a trip to London, England to attend his concert at the Palladium on October 17, including two VIP passes, round-trip flights plus a three-night hotel stay for two.

Matthew “Kiichichaos” Heafy, frontman of Trivium, has joined the Board of Directors of Stack Up, a military charity 501(c)3 military charity dedicated to supporting US and Allied Veterans’ mental health through gaming and working to end the epidemic of veteran suicide. Heafy, the son of a US Marine Corps veteran, has sold millions of records and runs the top music channel on Twitch, where he has raised thousands of dollars for Stack Up. As part of the board, Heafy will guide Stack Up as it expands its mission to provide Supply Crate gaming care packages and round-the-clock mental health support to recuperating veterans and active duty servicemembers through the Stack Up Overwatch Program (StOP).

The best Christmas gifts are the most useful ones. Slapping a bow on a bottle of Jack is the easiest gift you can give a metalhead. The great thing about it? Even if they have a preference, they aren’t going to turn down free alcohol. Type any brand and the words “gift set” into Google and you’ll find something. However, premade gift sets have a tendency to be overpriced and generic. You’re better off grabbing an empty box and filling it up with a variety of airplane bottles. It’s kind of like a box of chocolates—But booze.
Devin Townsend has spent the pandemic year of 202 releasing a live album, creating a podcast, and performing charity livestreams. He recently did a by Livestream for Halloween, and in news he broke in an interview with Ghost Cult, Devy now confirmed in a Tweet his livestream will take place December 23rd. Metallica has shared a clip of James Hetfield discussing the impetus for the band for founding their All Within My Hands foundation. The band initially wanted to raise money for charity, but now seeks to make an impact not just by donating money, but creating outreach programs that really help reshape the lives of the less fortunate. In this clip, Hetfield discusses the Metallica Scholars program which donated 15 million dollars to vocational schools and community colleges. The Metallica Scholars initiative was created in 2019 through a partnership between All Within My Hands Foundation (AWMH) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), a Washington, D.C.-based organization representing the countries more than 1,000 community colleges.
