Ghost Cult Keefy caught up with Bay Area Death Metal drummer Chad Gailey of Mortuous and Necrot to discuss Mortuous’ recent album “Upon Desolation” – released last fall via Carbonized Records! Chad discussed the making of the new album, how the band writes together, touring plans, some hints at Necrot’s next record and tours, and more!
What’s the best strategy when it comes time to record a follow-up to a critically acclaimed album like 2017’s Blood Offerings? Well, for Necrot it seems as simple as following the course. Yes, that approach on paper does come across a little reductionist and it may imply that Mortal (Tankcrimes) is merely a rehash. But while Necrot may not be reimagining the genre on Mortal they are serving up some of the most satisfying Death Metal today.

Mortuous remembers it so vividly that they’ve recorded their debut album Through Wilderness (Tankcrimes) and crammed it full of some of those seminal Death Metal sounds.
