According to a published report from the Mirror, NWOBHM legend Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, who flies the band on tours, has been made an honorary Royal Air Force (RAF) Group Captain. The heavy metal legend was enrolled as a member of the 601 (County of London) Squadron this week as a reward for his long-term support of the RAF. According to the article Dickinson, 61 has a net worth around £90 million trained as a pilot after taking a break from Iron Maiden in the 1990s. He rejoined in 1999, flying his bandmates in Ed Force One, an adapted Boeing 747. The plane’s livery includes the band’s logo and mascot, Eddie, painted on the tail. Continue reading

Iron Maiden Announces US Legacy Of The Beast Tour With The Raven Age
Iron Maiden is bringing its massively popular “Legacy of The Beast” greatest hits tour to the USA in 2019 for a series of arena and amphitheater shows produced by Live Nation. The tour will include a first-ever headline appearance at the Banc of California Stadium in LA, with special guests Fozzy. Bruce Dickinson Believes That Iron Maiden Should Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Currently, on his best-selling book tour worldwide, Iron Maiden frontman and heavy metal legend Bruce Dickinson was asked by a fan at the October 19 Melbourne, Australia stop of his current spoken-word tour if he thinks Maiden should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, located in Cleveland, Ohio. Bruce responded “Absolutely.” Then he added: “I actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter and complete load of bollocks, to be honest with you. It’s run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking fucking beer.” The Rock Hall announced its nominees for 2019 last week and as always it seems that hard rock and heavy metal bands get overlooked, including Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Virgin Trains Partners With Iron Maiden To Offer Trooper Beer
Virgin Trains has announced a partnership with Stockport, England-based Robinson’s Brewery, the makers of Iron Maiden’s The Trooper Beer, to offer the beverages to their customers on their routes. The beer is now available to purchase onboard all Virgin Trains services for the duration of the band’s sold-out “Legacy Of The Beast” U.K. Tour. Handcrafted by Robinsons, a 180-year-old family run brewery a stone’s throw from Stockport station, the beer has sold well over 20 million pints worldwide since it was launched back in 2013. Bruce Dickinson, a self-proclaimed ale enthusiast, was instrumental in the creation of Trooper, a 4.7% golden ale made with a unique blend of Bobek, Goldings and Cascade hops. Iron Maiden Sued Over Lyric Theft By Ex-Singer Dennis Wilcock
According to The Sun newspaper in the UK, a lawsuit is being brought against Iron Maiden by their former singer Dennis Wilcock. The case alleges lyric theft for early classics ‘Prowler’, ‘Charlotte The Harlot’, ‘Phantom Of The Opera’, ‘Iron Maiden ‘ and ‘Prodigal Son’ from their first two albums 1980’s self-titled effort and 1981’s Killers. Iron Maiden’s “Piece Of Mind” Turns Thirty-Five Years Old
Thirty-five years ago this week, Iron Maiden released Piece Of Mind (EMI/Capitol) cementing their legacy as arguably the best band ever in heavy metal. Their second album with Bruce Dickinson, following the spectacular success of Number of The Beast, the band was certainly under pressure for the much-anticipated follow-up. After leader/bassist Steve Harris wrote most of Number, the group chose a more collaborative approach on the new album.
