Poison Idea Streaming “Bog,” Upcoming Tour Dates

poison idea

Portland hardcore punk heroes Poison Idea is streaming “Bog”, off their upcoming album Confuse & Conquer, out April 7, 2015 via Southern Lord, here.

This is the first album since the passing of their former guitarist Tom “Pig Champion” Roberts, and 2006’s Latest Will and Testament. Eleven brand new anthems for the degenerate masses surge with thirty-five minutes of nonstop action on the new LP, its recording handled in their hometown by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege in late 2014. Confuse & Conquer‘s opening shredder, “Bog,” sets everything in its path ablaze with the nonstop energetic pummeling punk assault the band has infamously assaulted the planet with for three-and-a-half decades, proving that absolutely nothing can stop this legendary act and all attempts are a futile waste of time.

Philadelphia thrash-grindcore trio Die Choking has completed writing 13 new songs and will be entering Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA in early April to begin recording their debut full length with producer Will Yip (Lauryn Hill, Circa Survive, Blacklisted, Cop Problem). Stream the video with band drummer Joshua Cohen (also of Cop Problem) here.

Stream the music video for “Tonsil” below.

Die Choking shoved their second EP of hyperactive, earthmoving grind/thrash down the world’s collective throat, with II. Comprised of members previously/currently hailing from other acts Total Fucking Destruction, Cop Problem, Burden and more, the band follows up their self-titled debut EP with another five tracks in less than six minutes, the material swarming with even more enraged and psychotic songwriting, and more of an ominous powerviolence approach, while stepping things up in the songwriting department and delivery on all levels. II was recorded and mixed at Mark It Zero Studios with Dan O’Hare (Brutal Truth) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, Baptists, Code Orange Kids) at Audiosiege. The 7″ is 300 copies on vibrant red vinyl, each copy joined by a document that function’s as a real, personal Living Will, in the theme of the closing track, “Tonsil.” Fans of Wormrot, Brutal Truth, Human Remains, Magrudergrind and Noisear don’t walk away without it.

Piss Vortex Streaming “Devouring Intent” Music Video

piss vortex

Danish noise mongers Piss Vortex is streaming their first official music video for “Devouring Intent”, off of their self titled album, out now via Indisciplinarian, here.

Piss Vortex delivered the contorted and demented, noise-laden crust/grind/hardcore Piss Vortex has been quickly known for throughout their hometown of Copenhagen and beyond live, captured through fourteen searing tracks in twenty-three minutes. Directed by Christopher Leo Andersen and Kasper Rebien, the newly created video for the album’s “Devouring Intent,” though brief, does accurate job of documenting the mayhem of the band’s live shows cut into a collage of their impressions from a cold, wintery Copenhagen, perfectly reflecting the chaotic and aggressive nature of the band and their unusual take on grindcore.

Delivering destructive, vile, next-level grindcore, Piss Vortex’s hectic tour de force in relentless creativity and off-the-wall musicianship here melds elements baring semblance at times to Antigama, Deadguy, Gorguts, Napalm Death, Discordance Axis, Rotten Sound and others, but in their own demented delivery. Their self-titled debut album was produced by Jakob Reichert Nielsen (Lack, Rising, Anti Ritual) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Integrity, High On Fire, Nails).

forgotten tomb pic

Italian black/doom metallers Forgotten Tomb will be releasing their eighth studio album Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love on April 17, 2015 in Europe and April 21, 2015 in North America via Agonia Records.

The new album is a “mix of melancholy, groove and pure malignancy” – as put by the band’s leader, Ferdinando “Herr Morbid” Marchisio. “We kept the sound very organic and natural, kinda old-fashioned but still very fresh. The new songs are heavy as fuck and they feature our classic trademark plus some new elements. I can’t wait for people to listen to it, ’cause it’s a really special album for us and probably the most extreme we did in quite a while, both musically and conceptually”.

Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love was recorded and mixed in Sound Suite Studios (Marseille, France) with Terje Refsnes (Carpathian Forest, Novembre, Gehenna, Destroyer 666) behind the knobs. Brad Boatright of Audiosiege Studio (Corrosion Of Conformity, Nails, Vallenfyre, Beastmilk, High On Fire) took care of the mastering in Portland (Oregon, USA).

Make Do And Mend Streaming “Don’t Be Long”

Make Do And Mend is streaming “Don’t Be Long” off their forthcoming full length Don’t Be Long, out February 24, 2015 via Stay Close/Rise Records, here.

Though the band formed in Hartford, Connecticut, all four members of MAKE DO AND MEND now reside in different states across the country. Despite their geographical disconnect, the four piece was able to come together to create Don’t Be Long, their third full-length release following 2010’s End Measured Mile and 2012’s Everything You Ever Loved.

After close to a decade of existence, 8 studio efforts under their belt, including splits with the likes of Touché Amoré and The Flatliners, and extensive touring worldwide, MAKE DO AND MEND have channelled all of their experience into the making of Don’t Be Long. The album was recorded by Nick Bellmore at Dexter’s Lab in Milford, Connecticut, and Jay Maas at Getaway Records in Haverhill, Massachusetts, as well as mixed by Maas, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Engineering in Portland, Oregon.

The Don’t Be Long delivers 11 songs that showcase the band’s now trademark avidity for creating music endearingly familiar, and yet charmingly elusive. Like MAKE DO AND MEND’s career to date, Don’t Be Long‘s value is paradoxical. Valuable and yet somehow alien all for it’s unceasing eagerness to provide the listener with something rugged and true.

Poison Idea Releasing Confuse and Conquer April 7th

poison idea

Poison Idea is releasing Confuse & Conquer, their first new album since 2006’s Latest Will and Testament, out April 7, 2015 via Southern Lord Recordings.

Soaking up respect from generations of hardcore punks and dishing none out, the dastardly denizens of mid-paced punk shred are in trademark form on Confuse & Conquer. With longstanding members Jerry A (vocals), Eric “The Vegetable” Olsen (guitar) and Chris “Spider” Carey (bass) alloyed by the fresh faces of Nathan “Skinny” Richardson (drums) and Brandon Bentley (guitar), POISON IDEA’s brand new full-length proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards. Inventive beyond its steadfast roots, yet altogether as blunt as a stagediver’s knee hurtling towards your face, Confuse & Conquer sees the band wasting not a single second on non-music activities, riding high on this wave of creativity. Their forceful hardcore pummel is underwritten with dark humor, rage, disdain, and moments of real melancholy well beyond the usual remit of the genre, but it’s to be expected of Portland’s nihilistic champions, proudly unaligned with any other sound out there. They were there at the beginning and they’ll be there at the end, and in the meantime they have a lot more punk rock left to produce.

Confuse & Conquer was recorded in their hometown by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege over the closing few months of 2014, and will see release via Southern Lord on the 7th of April on CD, LP and digital formats. Additionally, expanded reissues of seminal POISON IDEA titles War All The Time, Feel The Darkness and more are also in the works for the coming years.

Southern Lord Recordings owner Greg Anderson issued on the signing and upcoming album, “I’ve been a rabid POISON IDEA fiend ever since seeing them decimate the legendary Gorilla Gardens in Seattle in 1985. Having the opportunity to work with this legendary band all these years later is an inexplicable honor.”

Formed in 1980, POISON IDEA became a household name in the hardcore/punk scenes early in their career, and are known as one of the most notoriously in-your-face acts in the American musical underworld, with an enraged, high-energy live set even more rambunctious than the massive roster of singles, EPs, full-length studio and live releases and more, across a realm of labels including Pusmort, Alchemy, American Leather, Bitzcore, Tim/Kerr, Taang!, Farewell, TKO, Southern Lord, Candlelight, and their own Fatal Erection. They’ve been an incredibly influential act to major performers including Nirvana, Pantera, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Eyehategod, Emperor, Turbonegro and an endless list of others.
