ALBUM REVIEW: Hour of 13 – Black Magick Rites


A lot has changed since Hour of 13’s last album, 333, came out in 2012. The project is now a one-man affair with bandleader/multi-instrumentalist Chad Davis playing all the parts himself, including vocals with Phil Swanson long out of the picture. That nine-year gap also saw a minor genre tug ‘o’ war take place as singles and EPs were torn between the Traditional Doom of albums past and Samhain-style Deathrock, often determined by whether the 13 was retained as a number or spelled out. With this somewhat convoluted frame in mind, it’s a relief to see the former style win out on their fourth full-length, Black Magick Rites (Shadow Kingdom Records).

HELLYEAH Shares New Video For “Skyy and Water” in Tribute to Vinnie Paul


HELLYEAH has shared the official music video for the song “Skyy And Water”, a moving tribute to late drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. The Wombat Fire-directed clip features backstage and performance footage of Abbott, who passed away more than a year ago. “Skyy And Water” is taken from HELLYEAH’s sixth studio album, Welcome Home, out now via Eleven Seven Music. You can read the Ghost Cult review here. Vinnie Paul died in June 2018 at the age of 54 in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas. The official cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease.Continue reading


Hellyeah Releases New Single and Video for “333”


As we reported yesterday at this time, Hellyeah has released their new single ‘333’, a blistering new track and a heartfelt tribute to their late drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, his brother Dimebag Darrell, and really a call to arms of their fans. The track comes off of their upcoming new album, the final recordings Vinnie has made with the band. The band has now released a video for ‘333’, shot a few weeks back at Duff’s Alcohol Abuse Center in Brooklyn, New York. The band is also performing a tribute concert Celebrating The Life Of Vinnie Paul Abbott Sat, May 11th 2019 at House Of Blues, Las Vegas. Tickets are selling out fast. Hellyeah Premieres New Song “333”, New Album Coming In June

Hellyeah is streaming their brand new song right now! Starting at 8 AM today, jam out to ‘333’ all day on SiriusXM Octane and SiriusXM Liquid Metal. Their new album releases on June 28th from Eleven Seven Music Group. This will be the final Hellyeah album with Vinnie Paul Abbott who passed away last summer. The band filmed the video for ‘333’ music video on March 1 at Duff’s Alcohol Abuse Center, the most famous metal bar in Brooklyn, New York a few weeks back. ‘333’ is a tribute to both Vinnie and his brother Dimebag Darrell, who played together in Pantera and Damageplan. Public Memorial For Vinnie Paul Abbott To Be Held This Coming Sunday


In an announcement made public on the Pantera Facebook account, the public memorial for late drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott will be held on Sunday, July 1 at Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas. Fans interested in attending “Vinnie Paul: A Public Celebration Of Life” must receive a wristband to enter the Bomb Factory. The line for wristbands will begin at noon outside the venue prior to the 3:33 p.m. memorial.
