After more than a decade at the forefront of modern metal with Arch Enemy and former lead vocalist and founding member of the Canadian metalcore band The Agonist, Alissa White-Gluz stepped into a bold new phase of her career with Blue Medusa. Known for her commanding voice, electrifying stage presence, and trailblazing role in extreme metal, she has spent two decades performing on the world’s biggest stages while helping push the genre forward.
During her tenure with Arch Enemy, White-Gluz helped usher in one of the band’s most successful eras, expanding their global reach and delivering explosive performances at major festivals and tours worldwide. Across multiple bands, collaborations, and projects, she has continually challenged expectations and brought new creative energy to heavy music.
With Blue Medusa, White-Gluz channels everything into a fresh project built around power, theatrical intensity, and uncompromising heaviness.
“Blue Medusa is the next evolution of everything I’ve been building toward for years,” says White-Gluz. “It’s my creative melting pot. Everything fans enjoy about the energy, intensity, and performance they’ve always experienced on stage with me over the past two decades is still here, even stronger. That is me, that is who I am and who I’ve always been. And now it’s amplified and unleashed in a fully sovereign artistic vision. Our music has blazing guitar solos, crushing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies, and most importantly (to me), really cogitative lyrics.”
Blue Medusa features an all-star lineup of musicians, including guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia. White-Gluz describes the chemistry between the trio as both energizing and creatively inspiring.
“The musical chemistry I feel with these women is really bringing me back to life. It is so refreshing and exciting,” she explains.
For the band’s live lineup, White-Gluz has hinted that drummer Delaney Jaster and bassist Alicia Vigil will join the group on stage, forming a powerhouse all-women lineup.
This project is not related to her recently released solo single, “The Room Where She Died”.
White-Gluz chose to unveil the project on International Women’s Day, emphasizing her commitment to creating stronger platforms for women in heavy music.
“I specifically chose to share this news on International Women’s Day because building stronger platforms for women in heavy music is something I care deeply about,” she says. “I’ve been carving my own path in this genre for a long time, and I want to help pave the way for the next generation of women who love metal as much as I do. Medusa turned people to stone… I want to pave the road in sapphire.”
Blue Medusa will make its live debut at major festivals, including Louder Than Life and Aftershock, with new music expected soon.
