What an amazing show, so much so I was talking about it days later covering a fest. It was a simple one on a Wednesday night at TV Eye in Ridgewood Queens, with only two bands but Zombi played for a solid chunk of time that still left me wanting more.

Overcalc started things with his solo Math Rock that was an enjoyable listen and got my head bobbing. I love a good solo act and Overcalc brought a nice expanse of sound from just a synth and a guitar.

Instrumental masterminds Zombi was up next playing a handful of new tracks of the recently released Direct Inject (Relapse Records, review here) which in my personal opinion is really good, I’ve found myself highly enjoying it and have had it in the daily rotation. I love how thick the bass sounds in their live performance and Zombi’s drummer is just outstanding, so damn catchy and smooth on the kit. You notice some weirdness in some of my photos for this gallery, that is because I recently took apart one of my vintage lenses and purposely put it back together incorrectly, it really adds a nice swirly effect to the images, I dig it and I hope you do as well. Be sure to check out Zombi’s new and past work. It’s worth the journey!
