Video: Puscifer Announce New Album, Grand Canyon Single
Puscifer, the band led by Maynard James Keenan of A Perfect Circle and Tool has announced an new album today, dubbed Money Shot. The album will release on October 30th. You can hear the new Puscifer track in the form for the music video for the song ‘Grand Canyon’ at this link or below:
The video is directed by Adam Rothlin, and stars Keenan and Carina Round. Kennan who has described Puscifer in the past as an outlet for his “creative unconscious” commented on the creation of the Money Shot album:
“It’s extremely satisfying to witness simple conversations and ideas transform into completed sonic landscapes..: And to have these stories go above and beyond the initial ideas makes my grumpy heart swell three sizes.”
Puscifer’s line-up was originally intended to be formless, with musicians coming in when Keenan needed, but currently features Round, Mat Mitchell, Juliette Commagere, Devo Keenan (Maynard’s son), Tim Alexander, Jon Theodore, Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins among their ranks.
Guitar Center’s Drum Off Confirmed January 17 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA
Guitar Center’s 26th Annual Drum-off finals will take place on January 17, 2014 at 8 pm at Club Nokia at LA Live (800 W. Olympic Blvd #335, Los Angeles, CA 90015).
Five talented drummers from across the country have been chosen from over 5,000 drummers entered in more than 1,000 local competitions nationwide to compete as finalists in Guitar Center’s 26th Annual Drum-Off, the world’s premier drum competition. A proven platform for success, celebrated and embraced by the drumming community, past winners have gone on to play for the likes of Prince, Beyoncé, Jay Z, the Mars Volta, and more. At stake is a prize package valued at over $45,000 including cash, gear, and endorsement deals.
The night will be hosted by Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr, David Lee Roth Band, Santana), and will feature exclusive musical performances by a host of renowned drummers and a special ceremony honoring Steve Jordan’s legendary career with an induction into Guitar Center’s RockWalk. All five finalists will perform live to compete for the winning title in front of a panel of celebrity judges and an audience full of fans and industry professionals. Between the host, performers, judges, and RockWalk inductees the event is one of drumming’s most celebrated events and brings together masters of the craft.
Artists performing include Steve Jordan (Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, John Mayer Trio), Tony Royster, Jr. (Jay-Z, 1995 Drum-Off Champ) plus special guests Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction) with Tim Alexander (Primus, A Perfect Circle), and Matt Garstka with Animals As Leaders
Guitar Center’s Drum-Off judges include Cora Dunham (Beyoncé, Prince, 2002 Drum-Off Champ), Peter Erskine (Grammy Award-winner, Weather Report), Nisan Stewart (Dancing With the Stars, Jamie Foxx), Thomas Lang (Asia, Paul Gilbert, Award-winning Instructional Books/Videos), Chris Johnson (Rihanna, Invented Like Stars), Nick Smith (Snoop Dogg), Dave Elitch (Antemasque, the Mars Volta), Gorden Campbell (Herbie Hancock, Earth Wind and Fire), and DeShaun Allen (Juicy J, Kenrick Lamar).
Guitar Center’s Drum-Off finalists are Jharis Yokley (Webster Groves, MO), Shariq Tucker (Rosedale, NY), D’Andrew Gosey (Houston, TX), Clyde Frazier (Sumter, SC), and Forrest Rice (Rancho Cuamonga, CA).

Primus/Les Claypool Book Due Out In September
Primus, Over the Electric Grapevine: Insight into Primus and the World of Les Claypool will be released via Akashic Books on September 16, 2014. Authored by journalist Greg Prato, he curated an oral history of all things Primus, and includes a 16 page full color photo insert with rare and never before seen images, and compiled 50 all new interviews with such names as Tim Alexander, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Matthew Bellamy (Muse), Les Claypool, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Larry LaLonde, Geddy Lee (Rush), Mickey Melchiondo (Ween), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Stone (South Park), Tom Waits, and many others.
News Update on Tim Alexander Following Open Heart Surgery
Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander is currently resting at home and recovering from his July 15th heart attack, in which three blockages near his heart were discovered. He underwent triple bypass surgery on July 21st to remove blockages without any complications.
Due to his health issues, Primus has cancelled the following upcoming shows:
