Sleep’s Stoner Doom Classic “Dopesmoker” to Receive a Remastered Expanded Edition

Sleep’s classic Stoner Doom Metal opus Dopesmoker will see a new vinyl remastered boxed set via the bands’ current label Third Man Records, owned by Jack White. This followed the end of the bands’ contract with Southern Lord that expired for their reissues earlier in 2022. This release comes from Third Man’s Vault subscription series, is limited in number, and will only be available via sign-up until April 30th. Dopesmoker will arrive totally remastered from the original source tapes of this seminal album. The package includes four “green kush” colored LPs that include the album, a custom etching and alternate takes of “Dopesmoker” – an unearthed studio version of the long-lost track “Hot Lava Man,” a 7″ featuring “Dopesmoker” (Radio Edit) and “Proceeds The Weedian” (marking the band’s first 7″ release since 1991), two foldover posters and a woven patch, all inside a custom LP slipcase. Jack White Announces The Supply Chain Issues Tour
Jack White has announced the first dates of The Supply Chain Issues Tour with shows in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The tour produced by Live Nation — which includes White’s first headline shows in four years — will begin with two special Fear Of The Dawn album release shows on April 8 & 9, 2022 at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre and continue through August 29 in Kansas City (full list of dates below). Third Man Records Vault Members will have access to first pre-sale tickets beginning Monday, December 13 at 10am local time.
Sleep To Release 12-Inch Vinyl Edition Of “Leagues Beneath” Single
In May following the release of the stellar new album The Sciences, doom legends Sleep release a new song, the seventeen-minute opus, ‘Leagues Beneath’ as part of Adult Swim’s ongoing “Singles Program”. Now the band is releasing a limited edition 12-Inch Vinyl Edition via their label, Jack White’s Third Man Records. The band is so fond of the track, they performed it live on their recent headline tour of America. The vinyl comes in two editions. The B side has a tentacled aquanaut nightmare etching on the B-sideThe black vinyl 12-inch is officially available at record stores worldwide next Friday, August 24 with select stores (including Third Man Records’ Nashville and Detroit storefronts the following day) carrying the very limited aquamarine special edition (also featuring B-side etching). Sleep – The Sciences
Like many phenomena in science, you can barely predict when it will happen, and even when you can, you are not always ready for it. Kind of like a comet, a unique blooming flower, or a blue moon, the rarest of events will make you appreciate being alive but also question your reality. If you experience a once in a lifetime event, count yourself lucky indeed. Fans of doom legends Sleep fans counted themselves lucky when the band, long dormant, came back to life in 2009. Since reforming, most would have been happy with just glorious live performances, insane volume in their ears, and all that weed smoke filling their lungs. But the band had other plans. After the single The Clarity (Adult Swim Singles), the band has been promising us a new album. Surprise releasing the album on 4/20 with one’s days’ notice is forgivable if you are this band only. Sleep To Surprise Release Their New Album “Sciences” For 4-20
Sleep has been teasing a new release for some time and will release a new album today, 4/20 for all their bud loving fans. Sciences will supposedly drop today at the stroke of 12 midnight and you can say you lived to see Sleep follow up their album Jerusalem, which came out 19 years ago. Third Man Records (owned by Jack White) will release the album recorded at God City Studios with Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Converge). Continue reading
