Testament Announces Remastered Versions of “The Legacy” and “The New Order”

Iconic Bay Area thrash metal pioneers Testament are proud to announce an explosive celebration of the band’s enduring legacy and their influential presence in the thrash metal scene. On July 12th, Testament will release the remastered versions of their seminal albums The Legacy & The New Order both digitally and on vinyl via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band offers fans previews of the remastered versions completed by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound via singles from each of the albums. “Over The Wall” from The Legacy (Remastered 2024) and “Into The Pit” from The New Order (Remastered 2024) are now available to be streamed on all platforms as well as a video visualizer.Continue reading →


Sleep’s Stoner Doom Classic “Dopesmoker” to Receive a Remastered Expanded Edition

Sleep’s classic Stoner Doom Metal opus Dopesmoker will see a new vinyl remastered boxed set via the bands’ current label Third Man Records, owned by Jack White. This followed the end of the bands’ contract with Southern Lord that expired for their reissues earlier in 2022. This release comes from Third Man’s Vault subscription series, is limited in number, and will only be available via sign-up until April 30th. Dopesmoker will arrive totally remastered from the original source tapes of this seminal album. The package includes four “green kush” colored LPs that include the album, a custom etching and alternate takes of “Dopesmoker” – an unearthed studio version of the long-lost track “Hot Lava Man,” a 7″ featuring “Dopesmoker” (Radio Edit) and “Proceeds The Weedian” (marking the band’s first 7″ release since 1991), two foldover posters and a woven patch, all inside a custom LP slipcase. After leaving again in ’94, the iconic bass player and moustache enthusiast teamed up with former frontman Ozzy Osbourne for a while before eventually going it alone to form G/Z/R.

Megadeth released the full tracklisting and format for their Dave Mustaine curated set Warheads On Foreheads, due out on March 22nd from AG Records/Universal. A new remastered version of their classic ‘Hangar 18’ is streaming for those with Amazon Music or Alexa. Warheads On Foreheads will be available as a 3-CD set, a 4-LP set and a digital edition via UMe Recordings. A limited-edition, four-LP set pressed on silver colored vinyl will be available exclusively through the band’s online store, with deluxe bundles to be announced. It is without a second’s hesitation that Norwegian second-wave Black Metal deities Mayhem are regarded as one of the pinnacles of the style: as one of the seminal acts. Their full length debut De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (Deathlike Silence) is rightly acclaimed as one of the very best – if not the actual best, which is my personal opinion depending on whether I’ve listened to that or In The Nightside Eclipse (Candlelight) most recently – Black Metal albums, while earlier releases Deathcrush (Posercorpse) and Live In Leipzig (Obscure Plasma) have also attained legendary status for their wild, raw nihilistic fury.Continue reading →
