Members of Guns N Roses, Metallica, and Rage Against The Machine Honor Eddie Van Halen at Virtual Rock Hall Ceremony



Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees virtual ceremony last night, November 7th, 2020. The program aired on HBO and to stream on HBO Max November 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will replace the live 35th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony that was originally scheduled for May 2 of this year. Eddie died on October 6 at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California at the age of 65. The tribute was announced within days of his passing. The band was founded in 1974 and Van Halen was inducted into the Hall of Fame with his band in 2007. The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame 2020 inductee class included Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex, and Ahmet Ertegun Award honorees Jon Landau and Irving Azoff. Continue reading


Tairrie B. Murphy Releases New Album, Covers Rage Against the Machine


 

Metal and Hip-Hop legend Tairrie B. Murphy has released a new album, dropped in time f(October, 20th, 2020) or the election run-up last weekend. The title Feminenergy is a portmanteau of Feminine Energy and could be a summation of Mrs. B’s entire career as a ground-breaking artist many times over in her glass-ceiling destroying career as a solo artist and with bands Tura Satana, Manhole, and My Ruin. The new album is great, includes a Rage Against the Machine cover (“Fistful of Steel”), and is available as a pay what you want on her Bandcamp and released via her own House of Capricorn Records. Tairrie has kept busy the last few years releasing some of her early records for free on her Bandcamp, releasing covers and new originals, working on this new music with her husband Mick Murphy (Chevy Metal), and reportedly writing her memoirs. It appears that Protest the Hero have got some thoughts on today’s, let us say shit, political climate. When your opening track is called ‘The Migrant Mother’ it’s a bit of a tell that Palimpsest (Spinefarm Records) has some issues it wants to address. I mean, regardless of subject matter I’d still be all for Palimpsest. Come on, it’s Protest the Hero, I could listen to songs about cooking bacon as long as it’s a new album.

Rage Against The Machine Postpones Entire Reunion Tour Until 2021


Rage Against The Machine, citing safety measures during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, have announced the postponement and have rescheduled dates for its previously announced tour. RATM in the most hyped reunion of 2020, Zack De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford — was forced to postpone all of its 2020 shows. The next RATM tour will be their first tour dates since 2011. Ghost Cult broke the global news about the reunion, later confirmed by Forbes. The band was supposed to play its first concerts back together in March at several cities along or near the Mexican border, with several dozen U.S. and European dates booked through the end of the summer. Rage Against The Machine Postpones First Leg of Their Upcoming Tour


Rage Against The Machine has announced that are postponing the first leg of their reunion tour due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. “Due to the current outbreak and ban on public gatherings, we are postponing the first part of our tour (March 26th – May 20th) with RUN THE JEWELS,” the group said in a statement. “The safety and health of those who come to our shows is of the utmost importance to us.” Ghost Cult first broke the news internationally of their reunion and a subsequent headline gig at Coachella, since canceled. The first shows back together later this month were due to take place at several cities along or near the Mexican border near ICE detention centers, including El Paso; Las Cruses, New Mexico; and Phoenix, Arizona. Instead, they will now launch the trek on May 23 at Boston Calling. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, which will be announced soon.Continue reading


Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals Officially Postponed Until October


In a story we are following, The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, a.k.a. Coachella, and its sister Country music festival, Stagecoach Festival, have officially been postponed from April to October amid panic over the coronavirus outbreak. The event, which was set to take place in Indio, California, on the weekends of April 10th and April 17th, will now take place over of October 9th and October 16th. Fans seeking a total refund will be notified on Friday, 3/13/2020. The lineup was set to include headlining performances from Rage Against The Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean. In a Twitter post, Goldenvoice, the AEG subsidiary that organizes the festival, said: “At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns. While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously.
