Retraction: We previously ran a version of this story with incorrect information about the closures of Sam Ash retail locations across the USA. A representative from Sam Ash messaged us with the proper information which is now added to the article below.

As we previously reported for several months, Music retail giant Sam Ash has finally and officially closed it’s New York City flagship retail store on 34th Street, following a series of other closings. This news is devastating to the music community in New York, as well as the world. The brand only made the public aware in the last few weeks before the closing with signage at their stores, but not a formal public statement. The popular music chain still has 18 locations operating in the United States, and you can see that full list below. The brand had dozens of stores nationwide, and closed several over the last year. The once iconic flagship location for many years store founded in 1924 by Samuel Ash from Brooklyn, was located at the infamous Musicians Row on 48th Street in Manhattan until 2012. The brand has seen increasingly tough times of late, including the death of long-time brand steward Sammy Ash, who was the acting COO until his death in September 2023.
