CONCERT REVIEW: Ann Wilson Live at Sony Hall  


In a time where people tend to throw around the word “legend”, I had the great fortune to experience an incredibly intimate evening with a true legend at Sony Hall last week. Ann Wilson, the undeniable and unmistakable voice of Heart, delivered the goods on the New York City stop of her tour. She’s supporting her new release Fierce Bliss. The album, like so many others to come out this year, was a product of the abundance of time off courtesy of Covid. Ann used her time very wisely and enlisted the help of a wide variety of heavy hitters including Vince Gill, Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Five Finger Death Punch’s Cover of “Blue on Black” Used to Raise $150K for Charity

Five Finger Death Punch has used their cover of ‘Blue on Black’ featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brantley Gilbert, and Dr. Brian May to donate $150k to the Gary Sinise Foundation honoring America’s Defenders, Veterans, First Responders, their families and those in need. The donation of over $150K to the Gary Sinise Foundation consists of a portion of the ticket sales from the band’s 2019 U.S. Fall arena tour, as well as proceeds from their #1 hit single “Blue On Black”. The Gary Sinise Foundation will use the funds to help America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. Mixed by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Shania Twain, Disturbed), the artists merged country and mainstream rock to re-create the classic song, which was originally recorded and co-written by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Veteran Bluesman Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been added to Ramblin Man Fair 2019 as the final headliner, topping the Outlaw Country Stage. Five Finger Death Punch, who just wrapped up a massive world tour, has released a new music video. The clip is for their cover of Kenny Wayne Sheppard Bands’ cover of ‘Blue On Black’, originally released in 1998. The clip was directed by Dale “Rage” Resteghini from a treatment written by guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
