ALBUM REVIEW: Witchsorrow – The Devil and All His Works


Witchsorrow’s last album saw the band taking the throb of Electric Wizard and giving it the grit of High on Fire. They changed up the strain of weed they were smoking when working on their newest album The Devil And All His Works (Church Road Records), as they take a turn down a darker path that is haunted by subtle bits of psychedelia. The opening track sprawls out into eleven minutes of hypnotic rumbling and pulses punctuated by a more deliberate stomp. It sounds great, though it leans more into the sounds summoned here rather than offering anything hooky. They saved the longest for first, since the rest of the album is more compact for Doom Metal hovering around the eight-minute mark per song. Continue reading
