Poppy has released her cover of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” as part of the soundtrack for the Sumerian Pictures film Mile End Kicks, now streaming digitally. The cover arrives via Sumerian Records and fits neatly into Poppy’s ongoing creative expansion following her January album Empty Hands. Stream it below.

Mile End Kicks is a coming-of-age romantic comedy directed by Chandler Levack and starring Barbie Ferreira as an aspiring music journalist who relocates to Montreal in 2011 with the ambition of writing a book about Alanis Morissette’s landmark 1995 debut, Jagged Little Pill. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival before receiving a theatrical release in Canada. Sumerian Pictures produced the film, with Sumerian Records assembling the accompanying tribute soundtrack, Mile End Kicks: Music Inspired by the Motion Picture, featuring an array of artists, each covering a different track from Morissette’s defining record.

Poppy’s contribution arrives in the wake of her seventh studio album, Empty Hands, released in January 2026. She is set to hit the road in support of the record this summer, with her Constantly Nowhere North American headline tour kicking off July 7 in Washington, D.C. at Echostage and running through August 19 in Nashville.
