Orléans, France’s grinding metallic hardcore outfit Nesseria is streaming the music video for “Des Rues Ordinaires,” off their latest album Fractures out now via Throatruiner Records on 12” vinyl and free download. Stream it below.
The band has issued the following statement about the video :
“Here is our first video, illustrating “The Ordinary Streets”, the opening track of our second album, «Fractures». These “ordinary streets” we chose to show in this video are those where we grew up, and spent most of our adolescences. We came back to these places that don’t, in themselves, have anything unique. We did it precisely because they are, in that, exactly identical to many we can find throughout France. In the anonymity of these empty places, stuck in their past, a whole population lives and drifts in silence. We thank Jean-Baptiste, Manuela, Delphine and Jean-Michel who have embodied immobilism, depression, alcool abuse and isolation. Thanks again to Florian Belmonte for his work, and to all those who helped us out.”
“And in this aging, mediocre country you grew up, and live your youth behind the shut doors of the ordinary streers. There, to ends of months succeed the end of social wages, to the wasted hours the total absence of choice. The sun rises whatever happends, and nothing stops your drift. Whether you wake up or not, the world keeps on turning, without you. Behind the shut doors, enough booze, dope and pills for all the early retirees. Keeping still, anticipating the recession promises, they’re watching the fire devouring the house.”

Norwegian premier experimentalists Dødheimsgard is streaming their fifth album A Umbra Omega, out March 17, 2015 via Peaceville Records, here.
A Umbra Omega is DHG’s first album since 2007’s Supervillain Outcast opus, and undoubtedly marks the band’s most challenging work to date; twisted, technical, sprawling epics and an inverted outlook on existence from the depths of band mastermind/writer/producer, Vicotnik, with similarities drawn to previous classic DHG works such as 666 International and Satanic Art. A raw and organic production permeates the album courtesy of Vicotnik himself, with the album mastered at Strype Audio in Oslo by Tom Kvålsvoll.
Dødheimsgard was formed in 1994 by Vicotnik and Aldrahn. The early incarnation was that of a raw and melodic black metal band, with its debut album also featuring Fenriz of Darkthrone on bass, before the poisons of a more avant-garde and schizophrenic concoction started to take hold.
At first blush, it might seem easy to dismiss The Beautiful Ones as yet another in a long line of current hardcore bands aping late ’80s NYHC conventions. Upon further investigation, a deeper and more genuine aesthetic becomes apparent, as evidenced on their new full length, Jaded Love. The NYHC elements are undeniably present, yet a broader spectrum of influences stand out as well. Clearly the band has been listening to everything from Alice In Chains to Slowdive and have impressively melding them into one cohesive sound all their own. Unafraid to explore their mellower side, The Beautiful Ones recruited Pity Sex vocalist Britty Drake to sing on two of their new songs, including “The Morning” which features Drake handling lead vocal duties. The result is unlike anything heard on records from their contemporaries and nods towards a certain progression for the band. The Beautiful Ones are not the sort of band that sets out to turn things on their head, but with Jaded Love they may be naturally stepping in that direction, and the results are striking.
Album Tracklist:
01. Jaded
02. Preface (Take It All Away)
03. Exhale (Room 312)
04. Transcend
05. The Morning (featuring guest vocals by Britty Drake)
06. Flowercrown
07. Lovers Stomp
08. Bloom & Destroy
09. Stay (featuring guest vocals by Britty Drake)
10. Heart in a Jar
11. Nothing. Existing. Missing.

Being very picky with hardcore music, I am very quick to pass up opportunities to listen to new hardcore music and just appreciate what I have in my library. Having said that, I am very fortunate to have been provided quite an addition with the latest album, Rust (Deathwish), by Chicago hardcore outfit, Harm’s Way. It does not take long for this album to ramp up and put you in a stranglehold. Whether the beat is punky, heavy, or just a crushing breakdown, these guys certainly bring to light what it is to be hardcore. Another aspect of the sound that makes up Harm’s Way is the guitar tone. I feel like the tone has that great crust feel to it without going so far as to turning into sludge. If that wasn’t going to sell this band’s sound to me, then looking at their Facebook page certainly did. In the about section, under “artists we also like,” only Nails is listed. It was like a match made in Hell!
The entire journey that is Rust clocks in at just over 33 minutes over the course of ten adrenaline injecting tracks. The overall flow of the album does not allow the listener to take many breaks as each track blends right into the next with minimal down time during intros. Another impressive trait for this release from Harm’s Way is that each track in the album has its own identity without repetitive riffs or even covered with the predictable breakdown. Due to this I could honestly speak about every track on Rust and explain how I felt the need to deconstruct each song. No need to fear as I like to keep my reviews quick rather open ended so it makes readers potentially go out and listen for themselves. What I can tell you is the moment the first track ‘Infestation’ starts its build up and gets moving, this avalanche of crusty hardcore does not stop until the 5th track, ‘Cancerous Ways.’ This track only gives you a slight break for air before leaping off the next cliff and drags you with it. Not to take away from the second half of the album, but the final two tracks back to back absolutely blew me away and end the album with an explanation point. ‘Turn To Stone’ builds up to an interlude with a female vocalist (which I cannot seem to place at time of writing this) pleading for help only to meet a grizzly breakdown. This then fades into the closer, ‘Ease My Mind’ which is the culmination of every previous track with catchy riffs, crusty guitar tones, some crafty foot work behind the drum set, and a groovy yet epic outro to what Harm’s Way calls Rust. Just as quickly as this album takes over your ears, it leaves you just as quickly in silence.
Harm’s Way has clearly done a great job of impressing me only after about a half hour of my time. Quite frankly, it only took a few songs in for me to headbang through highway traffic and actually say the word “Wow” at the end of some of the tracks. I will certainly be spinning these tracks for the rest of the year, as Rust battles to earn its keep in my end of the year list. In fact, I’m going to go hit play right now.
