“It’s a Rort” is taken from King Parrot’s latest full-length, A Young Person’s Guide to King Parrot, out now on Housecore Records in North America. The track has become a live staple on the current US tour, with audiences chanting the song’s breakdown cry in venues across the nation. For those unfamiliar, vocalist Matt Young explains: “‘Rort’ is a common term we use back home when you’re getting ripped off, scammed, or lied to. We’ve recently found out that ‘rort’ is not a word commonly used in the US. We feel like it’s a pretty apt time to use it!
A Young Person’s Guide to King Parrot is the band’s first new full-length in five years and their first new music since the 2022 Holed Up In The Lair EP. Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone Studios with engineer Luke Walton, the record features ten thoroughly crafted blasts through the psyche of the crazed Aussie quintet, the most complete, aggressive, and urgent the band has ever sounded. It follows 2017’s Ugly Produce.

Following their hugely successful US tour with Pantera and Amon Amarth last summer, King Parrot wasted no time returning stateside, locking in an invitation from Gwar and Soulfly late last year. West Coast and Southern dates are still to come. It is not too late to catch them tear up a stage near you.
