Hailing from Tijuana, Mexico, Unidad Trauma delivers their latest dose of Mexican death metal surgically fused with necrotizing thrash and gore-soaked brutality. For fans of Cattle Decapitation, Brujeria, Autopsy, and Dying Fetus, this is a pathological onslaught. These so-called “medical practitioners” offer grotesque dissertations in sonic form, tailored for those with a morbid fascination for occult medicine and anatomical horror.
Unidad Trauma’s new EP, Paradigma Egocéntrico Fatalista (Concreto Records), is a vicious concept record inspired by a real and disturbing case from nineties Japan. It tells the story of Hisashi Ouchi, a man who survived for 83 agonizing days after being exposed to extreme levels of nuclear radiation, his body deteriorating while kept alive by science. Each track serves as a chapter in this nightmare, unfolding through the perspectives of the doctors, the patient, and filtered through the bleak, visceral lens of Unidad Trauma’s sound.
Paradigma Egocéntrico Fatalista brings forth a relentless barrage of blast beats, guttural roars, throat-ripping screams, and surgical riffing. The music is a ritual of dissection, medically proficient in gore. It’s the perfect prescription for a blackened soul on the verge of collapse. This brand of death metal isn’t for the faint of heart. Unidad Trauma doesn’t mind forcing this symphony of human suffering down your throat.
You’ll surely limp away recovering from their devious malpractice. Be sure to buy the merch on your way out the door.
