Inhuman Condition released just Fearsick last year and are already back with a brand new EP. Color me fuckin’ stoked! Fearsick was on my shortlist for the album of the year in 2022. When it comes to old-school slick and sick Death Metal, few do it better.
Panic Prayer (Listenable Insanity) features three brand new banging tracks, a cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla” (Yes!) and three live tracks. It’s more than enough to tide you over until the band releases their next LP. Judging by their current output rate, it won’t be a long wait.
Featuring another killer cover by the sensational artist Dan Goldsworthy (Cradle of Filth, Corpsegrinder) Inhuman Condition perfectly captures the early nineties Florida Death Metal vibe. The new songs included are as solid as ever. Plenty of riffs with tons of crunch and tempo changes, headbanging hooks, and even some shout-along-worthy lyrics. Sure, they aren’t offering anything new or reinventing the sound but when you do it this good, why the fuck should you?
Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Godzilla’ is an interesting choice for a cover. Luckily the band puts their own stamp on it while still remaining true (and fun!) to the original. Don’t worry, this isn’t some dreadful Graveyard Classics redo.
The inclusion of the live tracks is a great bonus. You can just feel the small, cramped, and sweaty venue they were recorded in. Gotta love the calls for circle pits and to “Push your fucking neighbor over!!” Clearly, this is a band that is having a blast and putting on one hell of a show.
Now I just have to (im)patiently wait for them to come to my town.
