June 29th 2024, was a night to remember as Greece’s greatest metal export, Rotting Christ celebrated 35 years as a band. Presented by Rockwave Festival, the show was held at Lycabettus Theatre, which is located on a famous beautiful viewpoint overlooking all of Athens. Opening the show for them was Greek Occult Black Metal legends Varathron.
The show itself was an experience for the history books, especially being the only show for them in Athens this year. Rotting Christ performed classic hit after classic hit, with the set list available below, a birthday cake presented mid set, flares all night, and then during the encore, the crowd and fans flooding the stage and joining the band.
In promotion of the tour, founder, singer and guitarist, Sakis Tolis quoted, “In Athens with a special show in a very special place in the historical centre of the city.
