Motor Sister Streaming “A Hole” Music Video

motor sister advert band black_638

Motor Sister is streaming the new Jack Bennett directed music video for “A Hole,” off their new album Ride, out now via Metal Blade Records here.

“Motor Sister is a group of musicians whose collective musical pedigrees speak for themselves.” Mother Superior founder, guitarist, and vocalist Jim Wilson fronts the band, with Anthrax’s Scott Ian on guitar, Pearl Aday on backing vocals, Joey Vera on bass, and John Tempesta on drums.

The group was originally assembled to jam for Scott Ian’s fiftieth birthday party. Thanks to Scott’s wife Pearl Aday, who has been working on her solo career with Mother Superior front man Jim Wilson for years, all it took was a quick phone call and the stage was literally set for Scott’s dream gig. “I wanted to cherry-pick a set list of my favorite Mother Superior songs and get these guys together and have the concert at my house,” Ian says of the event that eventually led to an album. That album became known as Motor Sister’s Ride.

Orbweaver Recruit Ex-Trivium Nick Augusto As New Drummer

orbweaver

Miami hallucinatory metal collective Orbweaver has recruited Nick Augusto (ex-Trivium/Maruta) as their new drummer. Currently immersed in the pre-production stages of their next album, tentatively titled Hexagram 23, at Shadowlit Studios, Augusto’s authoritative drum style and sense of musical adventure adds a new creative dimension to Orbweaver’s already eclectic brand of pummel.

Comments Augusto of uniting with band,

“I’m happy to have been asked to be a part Orbweaver. We have all played shows with each other’s bands in the past and have been friends in this scene for quite some time now. I’ve jammed with [guitarist/vocalist] Randy [Piro] before, so the timing was right when we got a hold of each other to join forces and write new material. Looking forward to what this new CD and the future holds for Orbweaver!”

The band has these upcoming shows booked:

Mar 26: Churchill’s Pub – Miami, FL (w /Mutilation Rites, Mantar)
Apr 03: Churchill’s Pub – Miami, FL (w/ Insatanity, Koroidia)
May 08: Churchill’s Pub – Miami, FL (w/ Cave Of Swimmers (CD release), Cave Of Swimmers)

Steve Von Till Releasing A Life Unto Itself In May

steve von till-portrait-2015

Steve Von Till is streaming “A Life Unto Itself” off his new solo record of the same name, out May 12, 2015 (May 8, 2015 in Germany and May 11, 2015 in the UK and rest of Europe) via Neurot Recordings, here.

A Life Unto Itself ventures into compelling uncharted territory for its maker. His weathered, distinctive voice and sparse acoustic guitar provides a foundation, but a much wider variety of sonic textures are presented here. Bold and ambitious arrangements weave vintage synth, sublime strings, percussion, and electric guitars throughout these unique and expansive songs, as Von Till’s raspy whisper dives deeply inward, and speaks genuinely of visions, memories, and self-reflection in a way that feels both seasoned and exposed.

In creating the album’s myriad textures, Von Till was assisted by viola master Eyvind Kang, pedal steel wizard J. Kardong and percussionist Pat Schowe, all under the supervision of engineer and producer Randall Dunn, with whom he recorded and mixed the album at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle. He and his fellow travelers take the listener on a pilgrimage through hidden inner worlds, occasionally surfacing for brief sojourns through the American West (“In Your Wings”), Old World Europe (“A Language of Blood”) and more modern points unknown (“Night of the Moon”).

A Life Unto Itself Track Listing:
01. In Your Wings
02. A Life Unto Itself
03. A Language Of Blood
04. Night Of The Moon
05. Birch Bark Box
06. Chasing Ghosts
07. Known But Not Named
