Metalcore leaders Asking Alexandria have officially announced the return of former frontman Danny Worsnop to the group, and the departure of Denis Stoff. Details below:
The band and their former frontman, who split very publicly and with much acrimony had been fanning speculation across social media for several weeks by posting pictures of their original lineup. AA’s label, Sumerian Records also joined in sharing the news. In a Facebook Live event, guitarist/band leader Ben Bruce revealed the big news. Watch the video at this link or below:
After announcing that “Asking Alexandria is back to the way we started with the original f–king members.”. Bruce went on to detail how Stoff had withdrawn from the group and ultimately forced the band move on without him. After mending fences with Worsnop on a personal level, the doors opened up for his return.
“Obviously over the last few months we’ve rekindled our relationship with Danny. What happened in the past sucked and it hurt us and obviously I said things and Danny has said things — that happens. It was in the past and it was s–t, but at the end of the day we’ve been best friends for a decade and that’s why this is the move that’s right for us — right for us as a band, right for us as people and friends and right for Asking Alexandria.”
“We will tell you all the details as soon as we possibly can and all the guys can be with me and everyone can tell you how they feel and I just don’t feel right doing that myself right now. As I say, the other guys are just as important as I am I feel it’s only fair that they get to tell their side of the story too.”
Bruce closed with “Asking Alexandria is back to the way we started with the original f–king members The reason that we’re all here today is because of the five guys that started this band… and those five guys are back in the room together again.”
The band confirmed they have begun writing and recording a new album for 2017, with Worsnop. Asking Alexandria will be on tour starting next week as they continue to support their acclaimed album into The black (Sumerian). “The Ten Years In The Black Tour” features support coming from Born of Osiris, I See Stars, After the Burial, Upon a Burning Body and Bad Omens. Worsnop has been preparing his solo-Country album The Long Road Home via Earache in February 2017, and touring with his own rock band, We Are Harlot.
