Demolizer comes is a thrash band that comes to us from Denmark. Formed in 2018, the band has been working at a breakneck speed that is as fast and intense as the music they play. After a successful debut album, Thrashmaggedon, and an EP, the band is back with their second full-length, Post Necrotic Human (Mighty Music).
If you are looking to fill the empty void in your little black heart left when Slayer left us, Demolizer is a good spot to start. Their approach to thrash is classic and is modern with equal parts Exodus and Municipal Waste. Everything you love about trash metal is present. The heavy riff twin guitar attacks, galloping drums, and snarling vocals.
Demolizer kicks you in the nuts with their first song and title track, “Post Nectoric Human”. It hits hard from the get-go with hammering riffs and a nice almost Slayer-feeling scream before kicking into their full assault. “The Wheel” was just made for a circle pit. If this song doesn’t make you feel like getting your body moving, you may need to consult a doctor and have your hearing checked.
Tracks like “Crossfire” perfectly meld the old with the new. Politics are a classic subject for thrash music and Demolizer expertly crafts sound bites from Joe Biden to give an extra punch to your anger. Nothing is better in extreme music than giving political figures the middle finger no matter which side you support.
On “Killing a Friend” we see the band take a different direction as they slow the tempo waaaay down. Don’t worry kids, it’s still heavy ass fuck. The bass is murky and nasty. The spoken vocals have an eerie quality that work quite well here. We are also treated to some slower melodic riffs that really showcase the musicianship of the band. Most songs follow the traditional “Thrash til Death!” formula but “Killing a Friend” proves that Demolizer isn’t afraid to step outside their comfort zone.
Post Necrotic Human may not completely fill the missing spot from Slayer but they make one hell of an appetizer.
