Travis Sedg Bacon, frontman of industrial metal band Contracult Collective and former member of black metal act Black Anvil, has carved out a distinct creative space as a solo artist, blending acoustic guitar and electronic instrumentation into what he calls “Industrial Blues.” The genre merges the spirit of traditional blues with the mechanical intensity and textured layers of industrial music, and “Dopamine” is its first official introduction.

The single serves as the opening chapter of Industrial Blues, an EP due July 10 that further expands on this foundation, demonstrating Bacon’s ability to move fluidly between acoustic and electronic elements within a single cohesive vision. Beyond his solo work, Bacon has composed original music for several film and television productions, further underscoring his range as a creator.

Bacon is also the son of Hollywood icons Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, a family legacy his stage name directly honors, combining “Sedg” from his mother’s surname with his father’s. His film and television work includes composing the score for his mother’s 2022 feature Space Oddity and his father’s Amazon Prime series The Bondsman, and the family recently appeared together in the horror-comedy Family Movie.

In Family Movie, Bacon plays a death metal musician and took the role a step further by writing all original music for the film. The fictional band Obscure Death features Bacon on vocals alongside Nicholas Emde of Contracult and Shock Withdrawl on guitar, Eric Ghoste of Ghostemane on second guitar, Raeph Glicken of Black Anvil and Kill Your Idols on drums, and Samantha Mobley of Frozen Soul on bass.
