Mothica’s Somewhere in Between (Sharptone Records) steps away from the darker synth pop of her previous full-length, Kissing Death. Her sound has now evolved into something closer to the sonic zip code of artists leaning toward the version of modern metal that blends the genre with pop, like Poppy and Spiritbox. Heavier guitars are just being pushed more to the forefront, so it’s not a huge leap from her previous sound, and it does not feel like she is jumping on a bandwagon. The pop sound she toyed with on her last album is being refined and brought to a larger-than-life, cinematic scale. Lyrically, conceptual, but it deals with themes of inner struggle.

In a new interview with Sylvia Alvarado of the Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3, and transcribed by Blabbermouth.net, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash spoke about the band’s recently released two new songs called “Atlas” and “Nothin'”. When they were made available in December, the tracks marked the first new GN’R music since the 2023 singles “The General” and “Perhaps”. Both “Atlas” and “Nothin'” were produced by Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo (Janet Jackson, Rage Against The Machine); Costanzo co-produced Guns N’ Roses’ latest album, 2008’s Chinese Democracy, alongside Rose. Commenting on the piecemeal new music releases of singles and EP’s the last few years consisting of re-worked Chinese Democracy demos, Slash speaks of the in-progress new Guns N Roses music, he says “the next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff, and that’ll be an actual album.”
