The band go out on the road in their home country with metal Bee Gees tribute act, Tragedy, starting at Thekla, Bristol, March 28th. ALBUM REVIEW: Evergrey – A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament)


Good story telling is key to engaging a listener. Everygrey captures the listener with both words and music with their newest album A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) (Napalm Records). The lyrics tell a coherent story that is augmented by the composition; both what is played and in the silence in between. The album runs like a play; it has a first, second, and third act clearly delineated. There is rising action, a climax, falling action, and a denouement; a tragedy in 10 parts. Everygrey’s A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) creates an impression of being an open love letter to Vittorio de Sica.

Mayhem’s Legendary and Tragic “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” Turns 25


Twenty-five years ago the world of the burgeoning global black metal scene was turned on its ear by Mayhem’s De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (Deathlike Silence) album. Already a thing of legend before one note was heard, its infamy and musical value are intertwined for all time, causing a lot of debate in the music community of which is the focal point for proper critique. Can we have one without the other? Not likely. A lot of words have been spent on this topic be it the marketing hype, drama, and even other mediums have focused and tribute paid to the history of Mayhem, the members passed away, past and present and the events in the run-up to the release of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, so we are not going to use that space here again. Tragedy the Metal tribute to disco act The Bee Gees have posted a new single, a cover of the anthem from the musical film Grease, ‘Your the One That I Want’. See the video below:

 

 

 

The video has over 150,000 hits on YouTube in the first week. The band have also booked a UK tour, kicking off later this week.
