GoFundMe Launched to Help Tom Hunting in His Fight Against Cancer

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Exodus drummer Tom Hunting offset the high cost of his battle against cancer, following the start of treatment for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach. The campaign, titled “Help Tom Hunting with his cancer battle!,” was organized by Exodus/Slayer guitarist Gary Holt and created on Tuesday, April 20. In less than 24 hours, the campaign has amassed nearly $4,500 and is now more than $15,000 from hitting the target goal of $20,000. At press time, the campaign has 89 donors, 25 shares and 87 followers. Donate now at the link below and read a message from Gary.

Tom Hunting of Exodus Has Cancer

Sad news as legendary Thrash Metal drummer Tom Hunting of Exodus is fighting a form of esophageal cancer. He has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma,  a gastric tumor that was diagnosed in his upper stomach The reveal was made in a post to the bands’ Facebook account and contains a message from Tom and the band. He was diagnosed in February and the diagnosis has not quelled his desire to tour once the new album releases this summer, due via Nuclear Blast. Get well soon Tom.

Exodus’ Third Album “Fabulous Disaster” Turns 30

You cannot really put into words what Exodus has meant to Thrash Metal. Without their contribution, we’d have a lot of Heavy Metal thunder, but no lightning to ride. The band has had its share of ups and downs and only in the last half of their career have they even had the same lineup on albums more than once, as was this incarnation of the bad did in 1989. With legend, but problem child Paul Baloff dismissed after masterwork Bonded By Blood, Steve “Zetro” Souza had settled in and down as the frontman and vocalist. Band leader Gary Holt kept an iron fist on the writing in these days, and with good reason. His riff style and due diligence in songcraft helped give the band their pivotal third album, Fabulous Disaster (Relativity, Music For Nations). Continue reading →
