The Happy Soul were aptly named, as they exuded a chilled-out happiness on stage at Club Academy in Manchester. With a psychedelic backdrop of them looking happy and smiley to add emphasis to their live feel. Not much movement on the cramped stage and not much banter they very much let their music do the talking, they seemed too busy smiling to be honest.
Already having achieved the modern equivalent of “the greatest thing since sliced bread” for a hardcore and metal band, Code Orange are not content to just rest on their laurels and coast. With the incredible game-changing release Forever (Roadrunner) under their belts, the band continues to work tirelessly to cave in the ear-holes and souls of every single fan. Still, they mean business and just in time for their summer tour with Twitching Tongues, the band has dropped a new EP that is the same straight fire they have been spewing, The Hurt Will Go On (Roadrunner). Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor and award-winning film director David Fincher are working on a “rock opera” Broadway Musical version of Fincher’s 1999 cult movie classic Fight Club. The project was confirmed last weekend by Fight Club book author Chuck Palahniuk during a panel at San Diego Comic Con. Notable Broadway and film director Julie Taymor (The Lion King, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark) is said to be attached as well.
Renzor and Fincher have collaborated in the past on lauded film soundtracks such as The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and 2014’s hit Gone Girl. They began their long association with Reznor contributing to Fincher’s soundtrack for the movie Seven and the Nine Inch Nails video for ‘Only’ from With Teeth (Interscope).
