Bloodstock Open Air unveiled a slew of new bands recently for the festival proper and now has booked new bands for the Thursday night pre-party! The Nightflight Orchestra, Nekrogoblikon, The Crawling, Raised by Owls, and 2019 Metal 2 The Masses winners for Bournmouths Anakim will all help kick off the weekend. Bloodstock’s 2020 main stage headliners are Devin Townsend (Friday), Behemoth (Saturday), and Judas Priest (Sunday) and also includes Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Skindred, Paradise Lost, Life Of Agony, Black Dahlia Murder, Diamond Head, Jinjer, Vio-Lence, Sacred Reich, Gloryhammer, Dark Tranquility, Butcher Babies, Cattle Decapitation, Bloodywood, Memoriam, Ramage Inc, Green Lung, Bossk, Hatebreed, Bury Tomorrow, Sylosis, Toxic Holocaust, Winterfylleth, Exhumed, and Necrot so far. Biff Byford Updates Fans on His Health, Saxon Tour Dates, and Upcoming Solo Single


Biff Byford of Saxon has been home recovering from an emergency heart operation that put his band Saxon off the road, has given one of his customary Friday updates on Twitter. Biff is making progress on his recovery and hopes to start exercising in December. On the music front, Saxon is booking more “big shows” in addition to their previously announced career retrospective headline shows in the United Kingdon and Germany. Biff will also be releasing a new solo single on December 13th., the title track from his upcoming solo album The School of Hard Knocks. He is also putting together a solo band to tour behind the album. Great news all around Biff! Continue reading


Saxon Frontman Biff Byford is Recovering From Open Heart Surgery


Heavy Metal legend and Saxon frontman Biff Byford is recovering after undergoing an emergency triple bypass surgery last Monday, September 23rd. A heart bypass surgery, or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, is used to improve blood flow to the heart. A surgeon uses blood vessels taken from another area of the body to bypass the damaged arteries. The term triple bypass refers to the number of coronary arteries bypassed in the procedure. In other words, a triple bypass means three coronary arteries are bypassed. Biff posted on social media to offer an update on his health. Saxon was forced to postpone all its previously announced 2019 shows so that Byford could undergo the procedure. Legendary British Heavy Metal band Saxon, who was prepping for their 40th-anniversary tour, has had to postpone all remaining tour dates in 2019. Frontman Biff Byford needs immediate surgery for a heart problem and his and his post-op recovery period will last into 2020. Biff sent a message to fans to update them. Saxon Announces 40th Anniversary “Castles & Eagles” UK Tour, Live Album


As they have been hinting at, Saxon has announced a 40th-anniversary tour and new live album. The “Castles & Eagles” UK Tour will celebrate the bands’ milestone with a career spanning show at three special venues. For the first time since the 1980’s Saxon return to headlining London’s legendary Hammersmith “Odeon” and Manchester Apollo, together with their largest Scottish show to date at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena in October 2019, with a mega show featuring staples of Saxon shows past, the castle set in its enormity together with the classic Eagle Lighting rig! For London and Manchester, a four-band bill will include Swiss legends Krokus who will play their first and only shows in the UK for many years together with friends and NWOBHM icons Girlschool & Diamond Head. The Hall of Heavy Metal History Metal Hall of Fame Gala takes place every winter around The NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. Hosted by television, radio personality and heavy metal champion Eddie Trunk (Trunk Nation That Metal Show), and will feature appearances by heavy metal greats of today and years past. The event will feature performances by legendary drummers and Hall of Heavy Metal History inductees Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice, as well as a performance by hard rock/punk icon Jean Beauvoir.
