Anthrax has shared their second of their Behind The Scenes videos for their upcoming “Persistence of Time” Reissue. Anthrax’s collaboration with Public Enemy on their version of “Bring The Noise” is one of the greatest songs of all time, and is part of PE’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legacy. In a new behind the scenes video for Anthrax’s upcoming Persistence of Time reissue, drummer Charlie Benante takes you inside the history of this iconic team-up. During the Persistence of Time touring cycle, the two bands went out on the road together, the “Bring The Noise Tour” – Anthrax and Public Enemy, with Primus and the Young Black Teenagers supporting. This six-part video series is hosted by Charlie, who assembled and oversaw the anniversary edition. The Persistence of Time 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is set for an August 21, 2020 release (Megaforce Records), exactly 30 years after its original release. Available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition will offer four LPs as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album’s original visual concept. The 40-minute “guerilla-style” DVD was shot when Anthrax was on the “No Prayer on the Road” tour with Iron Maiden in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for Iron Maiden’s Nick McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. The piece wraps with Benante, Bello, and Ian joining Iron Maiden on stage for the final song of the night, “Sanctuary.”

The first video, “Dali”, is streaming now and can be seen below. The album was produced by Anthrax and Mark Dodson (Megaforce). It will be available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album’s original visual concept The album is fully remastered with newly refashioned cover art. Public Enemy Fires Flavor Flav Over Bernie Sanders Rally Cease and Desist Letter
Public Enemy formally fired legendary rapper and hypeman Flavor Flav after he issued a cease and desist letter to attempt to prevent Public Enemy, currently calling themselves “Public Enemy Radio ” a.k.a. “Public Enemy -FTP (Fight The Power) on some of their social media, from performing at a Los Angeles rally for United States Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The group, fronted by co-founder and sole owner of the rights to the group, Chuck D., did, in fact, perform at the rally Sunday. This comes just one day after all the parties squared off on social media , with Chuck D. saying he would give Flav “one year to get it together” or be kicked out. The Rage Against the Machine Reunion Effectively Ends Prophets of Rage
With the news of the reunion of Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage’s chapter as a band carrying on that legacy is now over. That supergroup included Tom Morello (guitar), Brad Wilk (drums) and Tim Commerford of RATM along with HipHop legends Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Just after the RATM reunion was announced for a series of shows in 2020, including an appearance at next year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Chuck and B-Real each posted to social media confirming their band is done.
Prophets of Rage (RATM, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill) to Release a New Song This Week
In a new interview with Mary Anne Hobbs of BBC Radio 6 Music, Tom Morello says there will be a new Prophets of Rage (RATM, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill) song released this week. This follows the recent stand-alone single ‘Made With Hate’, which released in June. More details about the bands’ new album, their third will be announced soon as well. “In light of the recent gun violence, we’ve got a very timely song that we’re gonna put out hopefully in the next couple of days,” he said. “Then beyond that, I think for PROPHETS OF RAGE, this will be our third studio record and really the one where I think we have to define who we are in 2019 and beyond, rather than just sort of a coming together of groups with notable catalogs, to really find our own sound and to continue to grow.”Continue reading
