AC/DC Teases New Single “A Shot In The Dark”

Hard rock legends AC/DC have teased a brand new song and video, likely premiering tomorrow dubbed “A Shot In The Dark”! The song is the lead single off their new album, mostly likely titled Power Up! The song is classic sounding AC/DC and features what sounds like a big, rock chorus. Check out the teaser below! As we shared the news yesterday, the band formally announced their comeback officially. The band released the first official photo of its reunited lineup, featuring returning frontman Brian Johnson alongside drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams and guitarists Angus and Stevie Young. The photo confirms the new lineup and likely new album title PWRUP, with details soon to be revealed. Earlier this week, a mysterious poster appeared outside Angus’s old school in Sydney, Australia. The poster placed outside of Ashfield Boys High School reads: “Are You Ready? SYD PWR UP.” At the bottom of the advertisement, there was a link to a web site with the iconic AC/DC red neon lightning logo. On the website itself, there are links to the AC/DC store as well as a “Power Up” e-mail sign-up, leading to speculation that the band’s long-awaited new album is called “Power Up”. A newly released teaser video from AC/DC, simply featuring the hashtag #PWRUP, only fuels the chatter. Short teaser videos have shown up on Social Media this week. This news is the latest in the saga of the retain of one of rock music’s leading bands. More to come on the news front as it is announced.

In a story we have been tracking at Ghost Cult, it appears as if AC/DC are convening in Vancouver, British Columbia to work on new music. In addition to Former members Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd photographed together, now a published report shows Angus and Stevie Young have been photographed together at the same studio space the band has recorded their last three albums. AC/DC Members, Including Brian Johnson And Phil Rudd Appear To Be Recording Together

Much speculation has surrounded AC/DC and whether they would ever make new music together, following the death of Malcolm Young. A few days after a Canadian journalist claimed that Stevie Young and Phil Rudd were spotted in downtown Vancouver, now former singer Brian Johnson and Rudd have been photographed together at a music studio. Vancouver is like a second home to AC/DC, since they made their last three albums in that city. If this is true this would be huge news for the rock world, but it could also be for another project such as a Johnson solo album, as nothing has been confirmed. With the death of Malcolm Young, plus the departures of Johnson, Rudd, and bassist Cliff Williams now retired, fans have wondered if sole remaining founding member Angus Young would keep the band going or decide it was time for AC/DC retire. AC/DC’s Phil Rudd Sentenced, For Attempted Murder And Drug Possession

Founding AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was sentenced today (Thursday June 9th) by the Tauranga District Court in New Zealand to 8 months of home detention for his charges of drug possession and threatening to kill.

Rudd was present in court for his sentencing, having already pled guilty to possession of cannabis and methamphetamine and one charge for making a threat to kill someone. He had hoped to have the charges dismissed.

Judge Thomas Ingram presided over the case, and gave Rudd a stern warning to not break his sentencing:

“I stone cold guarantee that’s (jail) where you’ll end up”. “I’m not your headmaster, I’m not your father. I’m a judge.”

Rudd will serve out his sentence in is mansion for the duration the the 8 months. Arrested and charged with the drug offenses and attempting to “procure a murder” of his former personal assistant last November, Rudd has been embroiled in drama ever since. He was not officially terminated from AC/DC and has said repeatedly in the press that expects to play with them again someday, although his band mates are apparently “not talking to him”.

Chris Slade was invited back into AC/DC earlier this year and at least for the time being, is expected to remain behind the drum throne for the legendary band. AC/DC continues to tour behind 2014’s Rock Or Bust (Columbia) album and is celebrating 40+ years as a touring band in 2015.

Phil Rudd Says He Be Will Back On Tour With AC/DC In 2015

Troubled AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd vows he will be behind the drumkit when they tour the world in 2015. He is currently on bail after being charged with threatening to kill and possession of drugs in November, and faces a jail term of up to seven years if he is found guilty.

He has claimed that the charges are “ludicrous” and adds:

“Everyone listens to the wrong people. They should listen to me. I’m a good guy – and a pretty good drummer, by the way. Ask Angus; he’ll tell you.”

He says of his current predicament:

“This has just been a big ball of cheese, and all the rats are gathering and having a piece. That’s just life. But that’s not who I am.”

He adds:

“I’m going back to work with AC/DC – and I don’t care who likes it and who doesn’t.”

Angus Young has said last month how Rudd had been difficult during the recording of their 17th album Rock Or Bust, and then failed to appear for a video and photo shoot in London in October. He was replaced on screen by Bob Richards of Welsh blues outfit Buck & Evans.
