Sid Wilson is Officially Out of Slipknot After 28 Years

Long-time Slipknot member and DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson (#0) is officially out of the band, according to a report via TMZ. Sid joined the band in 1998, right after signing their original record deal with Roadrunner Records, and before the completion of their self-titled debut album. A source close to the band and with direct knowledge told TMZ … “Sid was notified late Friday afternoon that he’s been permanently kicked out of the band.”

This development leaves only Corey Taylor, M. Shawn Crahan, Mick Thompson, and Jim Root as members still held over from the debut, and only band co-founder Clown remaining from 1995.

Clown Says Slipknot Have Yet to Begin Writing Their Eighth Album As a Band

According to a new interview with Slipknot mastermind and creative leader M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, the band has yet to convene for the writing process for their next studio album, which will be their eighth in their thirty-year-plus career. Crahan recently told NME that the band is currently on a “long-break” following the album/tour cycle that supported 2022’s The End, So Far, and tours and festivals celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut. The band released a deluxe edition and merch from the 1999 album, and added new drummer Eloy Casagrande (ex-Sepultura) following the firing of Jay Weinberg and the departures of other long-running members. The band has repeatedly promised and missed releasing their “lost” album, Look Outside Your Window, and also sold their past rights recently. to HarbourView Equity for $120 million. Slipknot Officially Sells Stake in Their Catalog to HarbourView Equity Partners

According to a  published report from The Hollywood Reporter, Slipknot has completed a deal to sell its music catalog. The deal — which is said to be worth approximately $120 million — between members of the long-running metal band and HarbourView Equity Partners includes the rights to Slipknot’s publishing and recording masters royalties.
