A large group of underground heavy music and punk bands have united in solidarity to donate money earned from sales on Bandcamp’s June 5th “free day” (when Bandcamp will not take their cut of sales from bands) to the memory of George Floyd, murdered by a police officer on May 25 in Minneapolis, MN. Forty-one bands will donate their proceeds to the National Bail Fund Network. The group  organizes to end all forms of detention, criminalization, and surveillance. The charity uses community bail funds as organizing tools to free people and push to abolish detention. For more information on bail funds, please visit: https://bit.ly/WhyBailFunds To get involved, head to the Bandcamp pages below and buy on Friday, June 5 from 12 – 12 PST! More importantly, you can donate to the National Bail Fund directly here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/bailfundscovid. Among the bands participating include Lightning Born, Haunt, Astral Witch, Throne of Iron, Emblem, Obsequiae, Smoulder (we became aware of this initiative from a friend sharing their post), and many more. Please support these bands and this cause if you can!  Continue reading →
