I don’t know anything about the director of this documentary or why he made it. I knew about Justin Pearson (Three One G Records, The Locust, Deaf Club, Dead Cross, Retox, Satanic Planet, Planet B) because I saw him play live a few times with Deaf Club, but I had no idea about his history or influence or voluminous work history within the scene. I’ve briefly chatted with him, and he was very polite, humorous but not overly so, somewhat accessible but just out of reach. But his onstage performance is provocative in a way that is inviting:
Satanic Planet is the brainchild of iconic personalities and artists such as Lucien Greaves (The Satanic Temple co-founder and spokesperson), Luke Henshaw (Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera), Dave Lombardo (Slayer, The Misfits, Mr. Bungle, Suicidal Tendencies, Dead Cross), and Justin Pearson (The Locust, Dead Cross, Swing Kids, Deaf Club). The collective has shared the video for their debut single, “Baphomet,” off of their upcoming self-titled album. “Baphomet” will be an instant gratification track today, March 26th, when the album is pre-ordered via Apple Music. Coming soon, the album also features guest appearances from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan, Nomi Abadi, Silent’s Jung Sing, Shiva Honey, Eric Livingston (also known as his artist moniker, First Church of the Void), and Hexa’s Carrie Feller.
San Diego-based Hardcore Punk and Metal collective Deaf Club have dropped a tight new cover and video of Killing Joke’s classic track “The Wait.” The video was created by Displaced/Replaced. The track is available digitally on Bandcamp for people to pay what they want, and all proceeds from now until Jan. 4th will go to support the state of Georgia U.S. Senate runoff election, which may have dire consequences for the USA, following the traitorous reaction to the results of the 2020 Presidential Election. The band consists of underground scene leaders such as Justin Pearson (The Locust, Dead Cross, Planet B), Brian Amalfitano (ACxDC), Scott Osment (Weak Flesh), Jason Klein (Run With The Hunted), and Tommy Meehan (The Manx, Chum Out!). The band released their debut EP and Contemporary Sickness, as well as a Remix cassette EP of bonus remixes featuring GothBoiClique’s YAWNS, Bubblegum Octopus, 304angstroms, and DJ Embryonic Petit Sac. The group is currently working on their full-length debut album. Watch the video now, purchase the track, and support a good cause.

What a truly intriguing mix of styles this appears on paper! A duo comprised of Punk underground overlord and current Dead Cross member Justin Pearson and hip-hop producer Luke Henshaw, Planet B are bringing so much to the table of their self-titled album (Ipecac Recordings) and are doing do with politically charged lyrics which are looking to rail against “the lack of humanity in the world…….”Continue reading →

Dead Cross released their debut album to the masses this Summer, and it’s a record I can’t stop listening to. Not only does it feature some of the most chaotic and violent music I’ve ever heard from Michael Crain, Justin Pearson and Dave Lombardo, but it also features an extraordinary vocal performance by the one and only Mike Patton.
Today the group has released their highly anticipated ‘Church Of The Motherfuckers’ video online, and it’s one you must see.Continue reading →
