According to Variety.com, Foo Fighters have hired drummer Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Angels & Airwaves, Paramore) to take over the drumming duties since they fired Josh Freese this spring. A source confirmed to Variety that Rubin, who has been a touring member of Nine Inch Nails since 2009, will step in for Freese as the band’s drummer, as first reported by the Hollywood Reporter. It’s unclear if his role will be permanent or just for touring, as the band has shows starting in October in Jakarta, Singapore and Mexico City Rubin and his wife are expecting a child any day now, and the FF gig will require less touring in the meantime Nine Inch Nails reunited with Freese, yesterday, after being fired this spring by Foo Fighters. Drummer Josh Freese Rejoins Nine Inch Nails, More “Peel It Back” Tour Dates Kicking Off Soon
Josh Freese (Vandals, A Perfect Circle, Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters), has returned to Nine Inch Nails as their drummer for the first time since 2008, after being fired by Nine Inch Nails earlier this year. In a post to social media accounts from NIN, simply stating “Let’s Fucking GO”- the band made it official. Freese had stepped into the drum throne for Foo Fighters in 2023 following the unexpected passing of Taylor Hawkins in March of 2022. Interestingly enough, Foo Fighters seem set to announce former NIN/Marilyn Manson drummer Illan Rubin as Freese’s replacement in that band Nine Inch Nails will kick off leg 2 of the Peel It Back tour next week in California!Continue reading
Foo Fighters Fire Punk Legend and Drummer Josh Freese
Foo Fighters have officially fired drummer Josh Freese (Vandals, A Perfect Circle, Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails), who had stepped into the role in 2023 following the unexpected passing of Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. The band called Josh on Monday, May 12th, as the band had decided to “go in a different direction” for their drummer, with no other reason provided. The band has not announced a new drummer, but recently announced their first show of 2025. Foo Fighters have already announced their first show of 2025, scheduled for October 4th at the Singapore Grand Prix.Continue reading

Austin-Based artist, Le Destroy, has released the single, “Autonomy,” accompanied by an animated music video. It is taken from her brand new album, Trashumanism, which is now out across DSPs. It was co-produced by former Nine Inch Nails collaborator Danny Lohner, mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Garbage, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and features Josh Freese on drums. Foo Fighters Announce Josh Freese As Their New Drummer, Plays Thgeir First Gig Together on a Global Livestream
Foo Fighters have finally announced that their new drummer will be Josh Freese. World-renowned for his drumming skills, versatility, and professionalism, Josh has been known for his close association with Punk legends the Vandals, as well as Devo, Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, as well as hundreds of sessions and his own solo career. Freese steps in a year after the tragic death of Taylor Hawkins. The band shared the announcement in their typical comedic style at the start of their livestream, with fellow drumming legends Chad Smith, Tommy Lee, and Danny Carey making cameos in the group’s announcement. The band then played their first gig with Josh, a global livestream concert via veeps.com.

An all star filled evening hit the El Rey Theater as musicians came together for a good cause to raise money for Rhonda’s Kiss, a charity to help those who need assistance battling cancer. Comedian Bill Burr opened up the evening with a brief set. A lineup featuring Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Josh Freese (The Vandals, etc), Duff McKagan (Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, etc), and Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver, etc) performed alongside a number of guest performers including Juliette Lewis, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and Billy Idol.
