Since we are still pretending Mistake in Parting did not happen, The Dark (Loma Vista Recordings) is Chelsea Wolfe’s ninth “official” studio album. Here is where she steps into the big time, so to speak. It only makes sense, as artists she influenced like Ethel Cain are currently playing the fabulous Ms. Wolfe, so it is her time to step out from behind the ghostly veil of reverb and prove who she is by singing out with a more stripped, organic production for the soulful “Cold” that opens the album.  Continue reading →


ALBUM REVIEW: Florence and The Machine – Dance Fever – Polydor Records

Like a lot of us out there, the lockdowns during the pandemic gave Florence Welch a lot of spare time to kill. When reading about the UK during the middle ages, Welch discovered ‘choreomania’ or dancing to exhaustion or even death, and thus became the soul theme to the band’s fifth album Dance Fever (Polydor Records). Now, some thirteen years since the act’s debut album, Lungs, Florence and The Machine have become a household name, having headlined grand festivals such as Glastonbury, and the real question is where can the group go from here.

Hear Florence and The Machine’s Cover of a new Game Of Thrones Song

Game of Thrones is now well into their final season on HBO with episode two airing last night. The episode closes with the character of Podrick Payne, portrayed by Daniel Portman singing the song ‘Jenny of Oldstones’, which is referenced in the original George RR Martin A Song of Ice and Fire books. After Payne sings the song, the song plays again over the final credits, as performed by Florence and The Machine. The cover has over 800,000 views since the show aired.
