Sad news as Carl “C.J.” Snare the co-founder frontman and singer of the Hard Rock/ Glam Metal band Firehouse has died. He was just 64 years old. CJ had taken a leave of absence from the band in 2023 for abdominal surgery, but passed away this weekend. The news was broken by his family, and shared by the band on their social media accounts CJ had been part of the band formed in 1984 in Richmond Virginia finally signing to Epic Records in 1989 out of North Carolina. They had huge hit songs in the genre, including “Reach For The Sky,” “Treat Me Bad,” “All She Wrote,” and of course, their signature power ballads “Love Of A Lifetime,” “I Live My Life For You,” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes.” The band hadn’t had a resurgence of popularity in recent years after placing tracks in the hit movie The Wrestler, and the recent HBO superhero television series The Peacemaker starring John Cena. T.M. Stevens, Bassist of 100s of Sessions and Tours, Has Died
One of the best and most prolific and coolest bass players in Rock history, T.M. Stevens, has died. He was 72. His colleague, fellow New Yorker, and musician Ronny Drayton broke the news on social media. Tributes have been pouring in from across all musical genres. Since 2017 T.M. was in a care facility while suffering from dementia. Starting out in the nineteen seventies in New York, T.M. was an early wunderkind on bass and received many accolades from bass and guitar magazines. He was also known for his flamboyant fashion sense and persona. Also known as Shaka Zulu, and fronting his own band also called Shakazooloo, his versatility and talent saw him as a member of his original band Space Cadets, as well as a recording and/or touring member of Pretenders, Steve’ Vai’s solo band for the album Passion and Warfare (also featuring Devin Townsend), his peer Victor Wooten, as well as hit albums from James Brown, Billy Squire, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, 2Pac, Joe Cocker, Darlene Love, Taylor Dayne, Nona Hendrix, and over 247 credits according to Discogs.com. Blackberry Smoke Drummer Brit Turner Has Died
Brit Turner, drummer for the Georgia Rockers Blackberry Smoke, has died. He was 57 years old. Turner had been battling glioblastoma — a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor — and underwent surgery in November 2022. The band revealed Brit’s death in a tribute post on social media. Brit was the co-founder of the band and is the brother of bassist Richard Turner. The band just released their new album, Be Right Here (3 Legged Records/Thirty Tigers) last month. In Brit’s career he released seven albums including chart topping Country and Rock releases. The statement band released begins: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has moved on from this life.”

Dot Homler, Drummer for Thotcrime, Has Died
Dot Homler, the drummer for Grindcore band Thotcrime (also stylized at thotcrime), died unexpectedly, earlier this week. No cause of death has been revealed. The band posted to social media to announce the news. thotcrime released their second album, D1G1T4L_DR1FT through Prosthetic Records, in October. RIP.
Control Denied and Pharaoh Vocalist Tim Aymar Has Died
Sad news as Control Denied and Pharaoh vocalist Tim Aymar has died. He was just 59. No cause of death was shared, as the news was released via Pharoh’s social media. A tribute from the Death Facebook account was also shared. Aymar is perhaps best remembered as the vocalist for Chuck Schuldiner’s Control Denied project, which released one album, 1999s The Fragile Art Of Existence. Tim was the vocalist for 313, Triple X, Psycho Scream, and Pharaoh. RIP.

Steve Grimmet, Singer for Grim Reaper Has Died
Sad news as legendary Heavy Metal singer Steve Grimmet, singer for Grim Reaper has died. He was 62 years old. News of his passing was broken on Facebook, by Steve’s brother Mark and his son, Russ. Although in poor health in recent years from diabetes, Steve had returned to touring as recently as the last few years and had plans for future releases. Grimmett’s passing comes five years after he had his right leg partially amputated in January 2017 when an infected wound on his foot spread to the bones in his leg partway through the group’s five-week tour of South America. Fans raised over $14,000 to help with his medical bills, raising awareness that touring Metal musicians are insurance deficient worldwide. Grimmet with his piercing falsetto vocals was best known for the album Rock You To Hell (1987), as well as the MTV hit video for “See You In Hell.” RIP.
Darryl Hunt, Bassist For Legendary Celtic Punk Band The Pogues Has Died
Sad news as legendary bassist Darryl Hunt of Celtic Rock/Punk band The Pogues, has died. He was 72. No cause of death has been revealed at this time. The band’s official page broke the news on social media “We are saddened beyond words. Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London.” In addition, his former bandmates and friends Shane MacGowan and Spider Stacey, many peers and fans also commented on their loss. Hunt was an integral members of the band from 1986 through 1996 until their break up. RIP.
Punk Legend and Teenage Head Founder Gord Lewis
According to the Toronato Star, Canadian Punk rock legend Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis has died. He was found dead in his home, and tragically his brother Jonathan Lewis charged with second-degree murder. Hamilton police responded to Gord’s apartment at 175 Catharine St. S. around noon Sunday, Aug. 7. Inside the unit, they found the body of a man in his 60s with “injuries consistent with foul play,” Det. Sgt. Sara Beck, of the homicide unit, said at a news conference outside police headquarters Monday afternoon. RIP Gord.
Kaleb Luebchow, Drummer for War of Ages Has Died
Kaleb Luebchow, the drummer for the Christian Metalcore band War Of Ages has died. No cause of death has been released. He passed away on Wednesday, July 27th in Nashville, TN. The news was shared by Kaleb’s family as well as the bands’ posts to social media. The band had previously announced they were canceling their shows planned for this coming weekend. In addition to War of Ages, he recently played in Europe touring with the Admiral Phunk Brass Band and was an in-demand session player in the Nashville music community. RIP. Continue reading
