Metallica joined Garth Brooks, Annie Lennox, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, and others for the at the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize tribute concert and award presentation to Elton John And Bernie Taupin on March 20. Warner Music Group Intends to Buy French Digital Music Company Believe SA, Owner of Nuclear Blast Records and Tunecore

One of the largest record labels in the world, Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced it intends to purchase Believe SA, a French digital music company. Among the many companies Believe owns includes a controlling stake in Nuclear Blast Records (acquired in 2018) and its offshoot Blood Blast Distribution, as well as Tunecore a Brooklyn, New York–based digital music distribution, publishing and licensing service founded in 2006. Tunecore distributes music through online retailers such as iTunes, Deezer, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Google Play, Tidal, Beatport. According to the press release you can read below, Warner “would provide Believe with strategic support and financial stability to help the development and growth of the Company, including by accelerating its expansion into new geographies.” Nuclear Blast founded in 1987 in Germany, is home to some of the greatest bands in Metal such as, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, C.O.C., Nightwish, Sepultura, Sabaton, In Flames, Lamb of God (Europe), and countless others. In addition to their legendary main brand known for Rock, Pop, Country, and Dance music, WMG owns a ton of sub labels boasting some of the biggest names in Hard Rock, Metal and Punk like 10K Projects, 300 Entertainment (Highly Suspect, Waterparks), Asylum, Atlantic (Shinedown, Halestorm) Big Beat, Elektra Entertainment (formerly: Metallica, Slipknot & Paramore – current: twenty one pilots, Brandi Carlile, Sturgill Simpson) Erato, First Night, Fueled By Ramen (Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, A Day To Remember), Nonesuch, Parlophone (Iron Maiden), Reprise (Lamb of God in the USA, Deftones, Disturbed, Crosses), Rhino (boxed sets, vinyl and CD reissues, and countless legacy releases), Roadrunner (Gojira, Turnstile, Motionless In White, Trivium, newly signed Deafheaven, Coheed and Cambria, Stone Sour), Sire, Spinnin’, Warner Records, Warner Classics, and Warner Music Nashville. If the sale goes through, it remains to be seen what shape the deal would have and what impact is might have for Nuclear Blast and Tunecore. Ozzy Osbourne and Brandi Carlile Win Big for Rock and Metal at the 65th Grammy Awards, Full List of Winners

The 65th Grammy Awards were held last night and in a mild surprise, Ozzy Osbourne and Brandi Carlile swept most of the Metal and Rock Awards. They won against tough competition such as Idles, Ghost, Megadeth, Muse, Turnstile for metal, and the Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Beck, Wet Leg, and Spoon for rock awards. Ozzy won for Best Metal Performance, and Best Rock Album for Patient Number 9.  Brandi Carlile’s “Broken Horses” won Best Rock Song, Best rock Performance, and Americana album, and Wet Leg swept The Alternative Rock category.  Also, of interest to metal fans and gamers, composer Stephanie Economou won the first-ever Grammy for a video game score Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok. The award is officially called Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. The full list of winners for main awards can be seen below and at the Grammy’s website

Bourbon & Beyond Festival 2022 has announced its lineup and has major Hard Rock artists as headliners! Pearl Jam, Jack White, Brandi Carlile, Alanis Morissette, Kings of Leon, Greta Van Fleet, and Chris Stapleton, The Doobie Brothers will headline the four-day festival. This year’s event expands to a four-day festival for the first time, with fans descending upon Louisville, Kentucky’s Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Exposition Center from September 15th-18th, 2022.

Watch Brandi Carlile and Soundgarden Perform in Concert

This past weekend Brandi Carlise performed in Washington State at the infamous venue The Gorge Amphitheatre. In addition to a set of her classics and new songs, she was joined by the surviving members of Soundgarden for several tracks. Brandi and her bands were joined by Kim Thayil, Ben Sheppard, and Matt Cameron (Pear Jam) for a run through of “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Closed”. Brandi paid tribute to late frontman Chris Cornell first at the 2019 concert tribute to Chris where she covered “Hunger Strike” with Chris Stapelton, and also these two songs for this performance for a special Record Store Day release in 2020.
