Swedish/English/American death metal trio Ravaged by the Yeti have released the gory video for the opening track, “Vengeance in Fur,” the first advance single from their sophomore album, Snowbound Horror, out July 10. through Testimony Records Watch it now and pre-order below.
Pre-orders available here.
Ravaged by the Yeti was founded in 2020 by guitarist and vocalist Rogga Johansson and guitarist/vocalist Jonny Pettersson. The band built its sound around old-school death metal with a dash of grindcore and a tongue-in-cheek loose concept centered on the mythical Yeti self-described as Neanderthal metal, or Denisovan metal if you ask the archaeogeneticists. Their debut, Apex Predator, arrived in 2023 to wide acclaim before the original lineup fell apart. Reports of the band’s demise were, as it turns out, greatly exaggerated.
Johansson regrouped with a transatlantic new lineup: American bassist Michael Borders, a Massacre veteran dating back to their demo years who also returned for the band’s early 2020s revival, and British drummer Jon Rudin, Johansson’s bandmate in Monstrous. Both Borders and Rudin had crossed paths with Johansson through Massacre, making this a gathering of old friends who simply love to play old-school death metal.
On “Vengeance in Fur,” Johansson says: “The opening track of Snowbound Horror delivers classic midtempo death metal riffage that gives way to an old-school heavy groove. Punishing vocals put the icing on it. This is a headbanger through and through.” The full album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Håkan Stuvemark at Necrotic Audio Productions in Ransta, Sweden, with cover artwork by Ivan S. Bragin and layout by Thomas Strater.
