Prophecy Fest 2026 brings one of the most extraordinary dark-music lineups in recent memory to one of the most extraordinary natural venues on earth. The three-day event runs September 3 through 5 in the legendary Balve Cave in Germany’s Sauerland region, and the bill reads like a wish list for fans of the atmospheric, the ancient, and the genuinely weird.

Twenty acts are confirmed for the 2026 edition, spanning Gothic doom, black metal, neofolk, darkwave, and beyond: The 3rd and the Mortal, Camerata Mediolanense, Dold Vorde Ens Navn, Dornenreich, Empyrium, Farsot, Klimt 1918, Maunah, Misþyrming, Nergal, Neun Welten, Paragon of Beauty, Secrets of the Moon, Simone Salvatori, Sleeping Pulse, Spiritual Front, Stainthorpe, Deeks and Quail, Sun of the Sleepless, and Tiamat.
The special shows are where this edition truly shines. Tiamat delivers a full performance of Wildhoney. Misþyrming and Nergal join forces to perform Behemoth’s Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic). The 3rd and the Mortal present Sorrow and Tears Laid in Earth in full. Empyrium celebrates thirty years of A Wintersunset…. Secrets of the Moon reunite to mark twenty years of Antithesis. Dornenreich delivers their only metal show of the year. Sleeping Pulse appears live for the very first time. Spiritual Front throws a party for twenty years of Armageddon Gigolo, while Neun Welten celebrates twenty years of Vergessene Pfade and also plays an exclusive metal set. Stainthorpe, Deeks, and Quail collaborate on songs from My Dying Bride, Arð, and Joe Quail. Paragon of Beauty reunites for one final concert.
Founded in 2015, Prophecy Fest sold out its very first edition. The event takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle in the Hönnetal near Balve in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The cave is a naturally formed karst site with documented human use dating back to the Paleolithic. Germanic legend, transmitted in the Old Icelandic Thidreksaga, holds that the mythical blacksmith Wayland learned his craft from dwarven masters who dwelt there. That weight of history, combined with the cave’s singular acoustics, makes it unlike any festival venue on the planet.
Passes are on sale now. A three-day pass costs 149 euros plus a 10% service charge. A Comfort supplement adds 75 euros, RV parking is 60 euros, and a tent site pass is 15 euros, all plus the service charge.
